billya
I had no idea that Fantasic Planet by Failure was worth hundreds until I saw it go for such prices on here.
Matt123
Tom Petty - Wildflowers. It was first on my list of records to get. After I got my Pro-Ject all hooked up I went online to purchase it...Little did I know it was out of print and going for over $250 on Ebay. Crushed all my dreams. Being a somewhat popular album I had no forethought to investigate pricing beforehand. Oh well, I'll wait patiently for the reissue.... turnstiles

throughbeingcruel
One of my local shops has sold the deluxe edition of Blue Sky Noise for ~$20 multiple times. But never to me. Last time it happened was about 2 years ago. Nashy

Guest
I had NO idea Brand New's fanbase was so big and rabid until I started posting here. Only heard of them in passing before because they did a horrendous Built to Spill cover anthemforadoomed, nothingnatural and ghjghj

ok.
The Dear Hunter. I picked up Acts I-III on Amazon a few years ago for ~20 bucks each.

Only heard of them in passing before because they did a horrendous Built to Spill coverI also had no idea that they were such a big deal on here. I've listened to them for quite some time and really enjoy Brand New, and I knew they were somewhat popular, but it seems like almost everyone on VC owns or wants to own a record by them. I never would've guessed how much Sing The Sorrow and Decemberunderground were worth. It's nuts.Same here.

itsgoodtobefree
Never realized the demand for pop punk was so huge. Maybe it's not in the grand scheme of things, but for some reason this forum has a massive fanbase for that stuff.
nancy_raygun
I wonder if the huge cost of some of these records has to do with nostalgia. I know Blink-182 albums aren't considerably more expensive than a lot of stuff posted in this thread, but I wouldn't have imagined that people would be lining up to purchase Take Off Your Pants & Jacket new for $50 13 years later. radiatorhums
I had NO idea Brand New's fanbase was so big and rabid until I started posting here. Same here. I knew people liked them, but not in the magnitude that they do. I also didn't realize that people actually liked Linkin Park either. That is still flabbergasting to me. anthemforadoomed
No This Is Patrick
I guess most stuff I now own or is on my wantlist... I kick myself constantly for not getting into "the hobby" earlier. But I'll say Underoath for a specific answer!
voltagedrop
The Mars Volta OG's (especially the first two albums). Even though there's about 15,000 of De-Loused pressed, a local store was selling a NM copy for $100. Even Bedlam in Goliath can't really be found for less than $75. throughbeingcruel
Same here. I knew people liked them, but not in the magnitude that they do. I also didn't realize that people actually liked Linkin Park either. That is still flabbergasting to me. Ive met like two people ever who didn't like Brand New (having heard them of course), so that's no shocker to me. But Linkin Park throws me off guard. Same with Pearl Jam. Like, the fuck? dawhizz
I'd say a lot of the 90s light alternative stuff like Counting Crows and Toad the Wet Sprocket. When I started really collecting I figured I could pick that kind of stuff up pretty cheap. Not so much. Klefki
