Vinyl Wave 17 dying?

Recommended Posts

Maybe their in-store vs online sales ratio is pointing towards online being a better scenario for them. Especially for UO, the purveyor of taste & leader of the vinyl sales.

I imagine record collectors are a different sort (see: pain in the ass) than the customers who frequent these stores otherwise (see: young, hipster, goth types). Sure there are crossover types who buy the records AND the awesome latest styles of clothes but perhaps those people are the more casual record collectors. So maybe they're giving up the retail floor space & taking inventory hassles, online price comparing, exclusives hunting, etc to a more singular channel. I'm don't believe records will have no floor space in another few years but who knows.

I could probably add a few more generalizations on something I know very little about but why ruin it.

Let's keep it general.

I was always the weird non-19 year old guy standing in the empty vinyl section looking up records on Spotify while I was browsing.  Very rarely did I see much action in the vinyl section.
