gmoney
I want to buy this so much, but every time I saw it on my shel I'd wonder, "What the hell was I thinking?" I actually think it will sell out, but not immediately or anything. A year or so from now one of us will wonder, "Huh, has the price of that National box set gone down?" We'll check the site and they'll all be gone. It took them months to sell out the deluxe of Trouble Will Find Me, which was cheaper, and a new album of 13 different songs. I really see them struggling to sell many of these.
aju2streets
Look for these in the clearance section at your local record store in a few months right next to Zaireeka, and every dollar bin record thats been reissued for RSD. SpazzyMcGee
I just listened to a 3 1/2 minute clip on youtube and I about pulled my hair out. Why would anyone in their right mind buy this and actually listen to it? $150 shelf piece is not for me. When I first got the email from 4AD I got excited thinking it was a boxset of their albums/live stuff/rarities/whatever and then got sad. The packaging is so freakin' cool though. This was a great big missed opportunity I don't even listen to The National but, that ^^^
jerseydave77
Someone else buy it so I can come over, look through it, play side A then together put it away and stare at it on your shelf. Too pricey for what it is.
natenomm
I'll hold out for the 60-piece 7" box set with one variation per side. jack8urt0n, SubstituteForLove, weinerdog and 1 other
toomanyrecords
The National is my FAVORITE band I can't justify that pricetag
scottyrobotty
I'm just glad that Sigur Ros didn't pull this stupid shit.
Moglog
Did they really play for six hours straight? No pee breaks or anything? And yeah, love The National, and it's a good charity, but can't justify this.
Le Gogh
"Please note: this boxset DOES NOT include a digital download". Sorry, not interested then! Seriously though, this looks amazing but is completely ridiculous. This is almost up there with those Flaming Lips LP's filled with blood... zerohacker
Goddamnit. I just about finished my National collection and this comes out. So torn if I want it or not. I mean, I do, but $150 is a lot.
Shitty Rambo
This is something that would have been cool for them to live stream so those interested could pop-in and out at their leisure. Like when Andrew WK played the drums for 24 hours straight. I sure as shit don't have 6 hours of free time to listen to one song over and over, they should have put this on a 7" with the first play-through on the A side and the last play-through on the B side. jonnyhambone
do they break into dub, hardcore, drone versions, etc? Boris could maybe pull this off but I think you'd just end up with 6 lps of bored National.

just a normal guy kevin
Pretty sure this is rationalized as an art piece rather than a practical record box set. The idea of a collector's only art box set with proceeds going to charity isn't as ridiculous as the actual original 9 hour performance in a museum. Art stuff. Etc. filthyrich
Never have I been LESS tempted to buy a super-limited release from one of my favorite bands. Really puts that $50 Thom Yorke vinyl in perspective.

radiatorhums
This is something that just doesn't need to exist in physical form. As much as I love this band, I would never listen to this more than once (and even then it would take me a few weeks to get through it). Also, pressing plant delays. agaetisbyrjun
I hope who ever had to sit through the test press check of this got a raise. Imagine getting all the way through it, and finding a defect on the last performance of the song. Then having to listen all the way through again when they redo it
castaway
This isn't even worth the real estate it would take up on my shelves.
booms528
Not even Kanye would try to sell you a $150 9xLP box of the same song for six hours.
