zerohacker
I think selling this for a lower price like $110 or including some bonus live EP or unreleased material would have been more of a troll move. It looks like a lot of thought went into the packaging and the price point is at a place where only affluent (or obsessive) fans will get it. Like I said earlier, it's easy to just pretend this doesn't exist. Unlike, let's say the Virginia EP and A Skin, A Night release which featured 4-5 b-sides, some demoes, and a terrible "art" film marketed as a documentary. They didn't even give us those awesome Vincent Moon Boxer promos which featured the only practical footage for fans from that saturated black and white grainy film experiment. I just tried to watch A Skin, A Night last week and couldn't make it through the whole thing.
just a normal guy kevin
I just tried to watch A Skin, A Night last week and couldn't make it through the whole thing. If bake and zerohacker, the two biggest National fans, can't get into a National 'documentary' then someone gone did drop the ball.

toomanyrecords
I enjoyed A Skin, A Night for what it's worth.. and I'd like to consider myself the largest National fan here. I own everything they have on vinyl (every limited edition) and I've seen them live 5 times. I made a 20 minute short film homage to Alligator when I lived in New York City. I've met Matt Berninger. /flex /dickwave booms528

mikeyfoo7
Where did someone see $210 to Canada? This looks to me to be $300+ CDN.... which is craziness.
Fridge Fox
Thought this was a box set of their studio albums + extras. Very sad. Even if they were my favorite band I would still think this is stupid. thesewoodenideas

panicchuck
When I saw the email I was hoping it was a preorder for the grateful dead tribute/thing they are doing currently. Can't wait for that.
collectivemike
It's cool this is all for charity. If I had the extra cash laying around I might pick it up for that reason.
dreamover
It's cool this is all for charity. If I had the extra cash laying around I might pick it up for that reason. Wouldn't it be cool if they made something people really wanted AND the proceeds went to charity? aju2streets and thesewoodenideas
collectivemike
Wouldn't it be cool if they made something people really wanted AND the proceeds went to charity? Hahahahah. Yes, yes it would. But we just can't have it all, can we?

just a normal guy kevin
It would be cool if it was a release we wanted, it was free to buy, and $1 billion dollars went to charity for each box set. But nope. The National lack such vision. zerohacker

fondfarewell
If the 4AD webstore inventory is to be believed, they've sold almost 800 of these. Wow.
gmoney
If the 4AD webstore inventory is to be believed, they've sold almost 800 of these. Wow. They only started with 1000, meaning they've only sold about 300. Out of 1500.
