The SYNTHWAVE Thread

Honestly, I'm expecting $80+. Actually since the GID 2xLPs were $60, I cannot imagine this being less than $100. Boy I hope I'm wrong though.

Also, here's some info on the Pert represses:

If they go up at the same time I'm grabbing a purple Night and a blue Terror.

You'll be surprised how long it stays in stock. Tons of optons and high prices for the box.

Yeah, actually the pink and red Dangerous Days and the recent TERROR 404 and IATN reissues have all stayed in stock for a while. Blood Music was clever with this release. With all the variants combined, it's a pretty large press - but since there's a ton of versions, they still have the appeal of a small run.

I'm definitely expecting the box to be $80, which is bulllshit a shame. I'm hoping $50-60, but not expecting it, and anything more should at least slow the sales.

my collector's mindset wants to go for the clear, but when purple and plink splatter and swirl are options it feels kinda derpy to buy a clear pressing

how have the previous Perturbator splatter records sounded? I've only heard complaints about the GITDs. My pink Dangerous Days sounds fucking amazing

I believe the members of VC with more discernible ears have collectively decided that splatters/starbursts/smashes/etc are noisier than solid color records. Aside from white or GITD of course, which are the devils of the vinyl community.

Mostly this. I have plenty of splits and stripes and spatters and swirls that sound fine, but solid colors, preferably black, but including clear, are a safer bet. My point is that you should absolutely get the version that you will enjoy the most, whatever the reason, but if you get "stuck" with the more limited clear version, at least you probably got the best sounding variant.

Oh yeah, absolutely. I'd be happy with any of them except GITD, honestly. (just not my thing)

I've definitely seen some noisy splatters / smashes / swirls, but I also have many that sound fantastic, and pretty much completely indiscernible from their opaque or transparent counterparts. I've found certain labels / plants seem to be much more consistent than others when it comes to the sound quality of elaborate colorways, which is why I ask if anyone's heard any Blood Music splatter pressings before.

I was under the impression white vinyl wasn't noisier - it's just more prone to wear over time than black vinyl, but I could be mistaken on that...
