OUT NOW: Refused - Freedom

Recommended Posts

In recent years Epitaph Europe have used a Dutch plant called Record Industry for making vinyl to distribute locally. Their vinyl production is usually very good sounding. Personally I prefer what they do to the output of most other plants. If you should get the chance, try comparing US and EU versions recent Bad Religion or Propagandhi albums for an idea of the general gap in quality between them. The latest Title Fight record also had a troubled US press, while the one done in Holland sounds flawless.

Nail meet head.

Don't you ever start listening to 'The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die' or other post-2010 emogangs.

Yeah... not super into it almost exclusively because of the emogangs. It's almost as if Refused inspired a specific generation of bands and now that same generation is informing the old guys on the things they missed while they were away.

Quickly combed through the pages, didn't see the Clear vinyl Bull Moose listing posted.  $20+ship, or free ship with $25+.

http://www.bullmoose.com/p/19584651/refused-freedom-clear-vinyl-indie-exclusive-1000-copies

Just to be clear, this isn't a Bullmoose exclusive, just an indie stores variant. Stores that ship outside the USA will have it, stores outside the USA may have it.

For some reason I convinced myself that kings road was the only place to pre order without checking here first. So I preordered black from kings road Europe, I live in Florida. Lol smart. It only came out to 21.95 in dollars after shipping but I missed out on all the fancy limited colors.

Allow us to light a candle for you...

Elektra is incredibly commonplace, i won't pre order.

And yeah, they suck for solding their ethics (seriously, supaRARECOLLECTOR multiple versions ? Taylor swift and Britney Spears collaborator ?)

Refused is fuck'n dead, i saw them live 3 years ago and they were already....

Careful there, man.  You may slip up and slice yourself on that much edge.

How many colorways of TSOPTC are there?  Red?  Blue?  Clear?  Black?  You're making it sound like Refused records have never seen variants prior to Freedom.  When there's a bundle that features a beer cozy, towel, temporary tattoos, tote bag, sticker book, and patches... then we'll talk.

(And you mean to tell me that Refused don't put on the same kind of show they did 14 years ago?  Really?)

Regarding the producers; not sure what to tell you.  Times change.  It's been 17 years since their last output.  Until the songs themselves feature Swift and Spears, I'm not going to stress it.  Stranger things have happened in the music world.

I'm not on a Refused street team, or trying to pitch a sale for the new record.  I'm reserving appropriate skepticism and setting realistic hype.  You're welcome to prematurely write off the whole record based off a single that starts the entire album.  But considering how long it's been, there's no real telling what's in store with the record.  For better or worse.

It really bothers me when people call hypocrisy on those with left-leaning views. It seems to me that these people believe that to have left-leaning or socialist views, you have to live in a forest foraging for food.

And also, I don't really see the problem with collaborating with Shellback, as I belief he is a massive fan of the band, and a great producer (his work on the latest Taylor Swift is fantastic). As I said before though, that djent-ish stutter guitar edit near the end Elektra is kinda lame. Not sure Refused suit that hyper-polished production.

It's has to be expected when the left-leaning present their views/beliefs in the most comically obnoxious ways imaginable.

As adults they wrote their manifestos about how they intend to DESTROY ALL CULTURE and OVERTHROW THE ENTIRE CLASS SYSTEM, ended their band, and then proceeded to return 15 years later to play Coachella. It's understandable that they are now older men and no doubt have children and mortgages to think about, but you cannot ignore the blatant hypocrisy and hilarious turn of events.
