ExtraFox
I can only find UK links to these at the moment. Due out at the end of June on Rhino. http://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/65910.htm http://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/65907.htm http://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/65909.htm It doesn't look like Ruby Vroom has been released on vinyl before, and this is a LOT cheaper than buying an OP of El Oso. ExtraFox
They're all marked as Out Of Stock now. I'd swear they weren't a few hours ago.
atticus
Good news! I hope one day someone is crazy enough to lose money pressing Mike's earlier solo stuff. Rockity Roll is one of my favorites. tape

slipcraig
HOLY FUCK. I love Soul Coughing. Strange anecdote. I was listening to a live session of Sylvan Esso on KEXP when the DJ asked them who they listen to on the road in the van. She said they listen to Soul Coughing more than anything else. Mad respect. tape
niblips
fuck yes!!!!! but I'm not paying 105 euros for them (shipped). why have I not heard Mike Doughty talk about this?

xbpr
I'm down for some Soul Coughing. Has anybody heard any of Mike's songs that he has been posting on drip.fm? I'm wondering if any of those will be seeing a phyisical release?
tape
why have I not heard Mike Doughty talk about this? Two likely reasons: 1) It's probably the label deciding to do the repress and not the band. 2) Mike's disdain for the other members of Soul Coughing is pretty well documented. He's probably happy to get some royalty checks but otherwise sit out any active participation/promotion of something he doesn't really believe in anymore. Anyway, I'm suuuuper down for these. Some of the most important music in my personal timeline.
gutzonborglum
Anyway, I'm suuuuper down for these. Some of the most important music in my personal timeline. Same here. These songs from each and every album are embedded in my mind and tied to pretty specific points in my life. I'm insanely glad these guys seemed to like Minnesota and played there a lot in the nineties. I'll order right away once they start popping up in the US. flood
wow.. this took forever.. I looked into these about 3 years ago and some other label was supposed to do them... it must have fallen through. Mike pretty much hates SC now.. his autobiography is great if you haven't read it.
xbpr
I think he has some sense of peace with soul coughing now given the fact that he re-recorded a bunch of songs and even toured them. The other band members, that's probably a whole other story.

mameeshkamowskwoz
Ruby Vroom and Irresistible Bliss are on Amazon UK now. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ruby-Vroom-VINYL-Soul-Coughing/dp/B00VN7OHA8/ref=sr_1_6?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1433435922&sr=1-6&keywords=soul+coughinghttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Irresistible-Bliss-VINYL-Soul-Coughing/dp/B00VN7OHCQ/ref=sr_1_7?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1433435922&sr=1-7&keywords=soul+coughing

vinyl addict
All i ever really heard was Super Bon Bon. Where would be a good place to start?
chuckeroo2
I really thought these were records that would never get crossed off my list, so awesome that this is happening! Yep. His book painted a pretty unflattering picture of them. I think this is definitely a case of two sides to every story. If you've ever had a friend who was a heroin addict, and add in the personality type Doughty seems to have, sounds like some rough times all around. All i ever really heard was Super Bon Bon. Where would be a good place to start? I would suggest listening in order, Ruby Vroom then Irresistable Bliss, they're both great. I never really got on with El Oso personally, but others might have another opinion. They definitely seem like they changed on that album, and from what I've read the band was kind of a trainwreck by that point.

El Oso is my least fave studio album of theirs, but still has some indispensable tracks (Circles, Rolling, St. Louise is Listening, Houston, $300, So Far I Have Not Found the Science)
