I'm not necessarily a folk fan but the record is dynamic and each song can stand on it's own. It sounds glorious, one of the best sounding records I have had the pleasure of listening to. It is almost as if I am listening to this album anew. I remember buying Takk on CD when I was 16, it was the hardcase embossed version. I bought it purely because I thought it had cool packaging, I knew nothing about Sigur Ros. I pretty much listened to your standard punk rock music back then, maybe some Mars Volta to branch out.
