What are you Fat Possum experts' top 5 LPs to check out? I only have one Silver Jews album and have heard nothing else from the label. Into stuff like KOLS, John Vanderslice, garage-y lo fi stuff, singer/songwriter stuff. Not into instrumental math rock-y stuff or scratchy throat post-emo-No-Sleep-style stuf.

Not a Fat Possum expert, but would recommend any of the Andrew Bird, A.A. Bondy, or Townes Van Zandt albums.

you might be thinking of Drag City, since you mentioned Silver Jews.

i would suggest these essentials:

 - Townes Van Zandt "Townes Van Zandt" (70's singer / songwriter)

 - Jay Reatard "Blood Visions" (punk)

 - Bass Drum of Death "GB City" (garage / lo-fi)

 - The Walkmen "Lisbon" (indie-rock)

 - or one of the early records from The Black Keys, like "Thickfreakness" (blues-rock)

wild card - Rowland S. Howard "Pop Crimes" (post-punk rock)
