Square Enix is pressing the Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers edition soundtrack.

Currently up for preorder with an estimated ship date of late June 2022.

https://store.na.square-enix-games.com/en_US/product/725855/chrono-cross-the-radical-dreamers-edition-vinyl

Heads up, shipping cost (at least to Canada) is kinda crazy and if you order anything else with the PO, they will split the orders and you have to pay shipping twice.

Saw this copy on red over here for Ghost of Tsushima:

I kinda want it and the ratchet and clank OST, but ugh, spent way too much money on punk represses I already own five copies of that I never listen to either 🤦‍♂️

This feels like a decent deal for all three of the Dark Souls soundtracks on 2LP (x3) splatter vinyl, (like $95)  but admittedly I’m terrible about keeping up with these sorts of things:

Holy smokes, $350!  It’s insane what some records have jumped up to these days

If I had the energy and spare income, I’d buy 1-2 copies of every single game and movie OST that comes out on vinyl, and just sit on them for a bit.  People pay some truly insane triple digits to spin soundtracks from media they hold dear.  Probably the easiest market to exploit; there’s a reason bots and flippers buzz around Mondo like gnats to a porch light.

If they even bother to spin them. In a few years there may be sealed graded copies circulating among collectors.

I have no doubt about that.  I think there are people out there who buy and open their vinyl OSTs, sure… but of that group, I wholeheartedly believe that there’s a tiny % that will legitimately sit and listen to all sides of their purchase.  I’ve made this post numerous times on VC – so apologies to anyone who’s had to read it more than once – but so much of OST vinyl is just chest beating and attempts to prove fandom.  That is no doubt true of “regular” vinyl and variant hoarding as well, don’t get me wrong… I just think it’s way more prevalent with any kind of “score” on wax.  But at the end of the day I have to tip my hat to the authentic movie buffs or game enthusiasts who genuinely listen to their purchases.  Because they’re in a sea of folks who keep shit sealed for collectibility (akin to sneaker-flipping hype beasts), or who listen to the first couple of tracks to get to the most iconic bit for an Instagram clip and pic of the variant on their turntable, then onto the next.  I couldn’t be more confident in making those assumptions, sorry / not sorry.

Don’t disagree with that at all. Most of the soundtracks I own are because I’m a big fan of the movie/game vs dying to own the music. That said, not much a chest thumper myself/buying for the gram.  The 8-bit stuff is the biggest exception to that for me, I love that.
