GIMMICKFAN
Hey guys. A couple years ago, I bought an Everclear promo single on yellow vinyl. I played it the other day and it started skipping! I paid way too much for this to have it skip, so can anyone recommend a way to fix it? I've already tried a basic cleaning, but that hasn't done anything.
TheGhostOfRandySavage
What do you mean by "basic cleaning?" Have you listened to it before without it skipping?
chiefwahoo
Are you referring to the Wonderful single? If so, just buy another one. They're dirt cheap on Discogs.

By "basic cleaning' I mean cleaning it with a microfiber pad & record cleaning fluid. I have listened to it before it started skipping, & it did not skip then. Get someone to give it a good vacuum clean, if that doesn't work, look at it under a bright light in the spot where it skips and see if you can find anything jammed in the groove. If there is something in there, very carefully get it out with a toothpick. If there's nothing in there, it may be something with your turntable. /thread. GIMMICKFAN
I will buy you a new turntable Thanks, but the problem is not with my turntable. I've listened to several 45s on it, & none of them have skipped (besides the Everclear one).

Guest
I'd guess small amount of dirt in the groove, worn stylus, or improper cartridge set up.
