xadamhudsonx
I'm getting married in SF in October and want to go out to a nice dinner that evening. I'm not worried about price... although not looking to spend $600 on dinner either. Looking for something hip and trendy. Someplace we can dress up for, but not stuffy. American, French or Japanese preferred, but open to other suggestions if it fits the bill. Thanks in advance!
roadmonkey
Easily one of the best sushi restaurants in the area. Yes it's in Sausalito, but it's like 5 minutes from the other side of golden gate bridge. Other suggestions in actual SF.. I would say Slanted Door, Jasper's Corner and Tap Room Social Kitchen Absinthe Boxing Room Suppenküche Maven It could help if you let us know what neighborhood/area you preferred. That would also help narrow stuff down xadamhudsonx

xadamhudsonx
Thanks very much for those suggestions guys. The neighborhood doesn't matter. I'm willing to drive a bit or uber to the restaurant, regardless. That view is pretty nice, might be a good spot to check out.
psus2h
Congrats Adam. As goofy as it sounds I've always had great luck with Anthony Bourdains show suggestions.

Thanks very much. I'll look into his recommendations. I have narrowed it down to a few spots, made reservations for each... and will cancel those once I make a final choice. I'm looking at Foreign Cinema, Chambers, and now looking at The Slanted Door. We will also be there a few nights so we may end up at a few of those on the list. I just want to try and pick a nice romantic (without being stuffy) spot for our Just Married dinner.

Chambers is more of a small bites/happy hour spot than a romantic dinner spot. Just an FYI, you might still enjoy it but I wouldn't put it in the special date category. My absolute favorite restaurants in SF are Frances, State Bird Provision and Rich Table. Octavia is Frances' sister restaurant and also quite good, as is the Progress which is State Bird's sister restaurant. All of these are tough tables to get but thought I'd throw them out there. Some other places you might enjoy and worth looking into: Zuni Cafe, SPQR, Cotogna, Nopa. Eater SF does a good job keeping track of the SF restaurant scene, here are a couple of links which might help: http://sf.eater.com/maps/best-san-francisco-restaurants-38 http://sf.eater.com/maps/best-new-san-francisco-restaurants-heatmap-oakland-berkeley http://sf.eater.com/maps/best-new-bars-cocktails-san-francisco-oakland-berkeley Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the city...I've lived here most of my life and spend the majority of my income on going out to eat and drink! paranoidantroyd
I've heard that the Rice-a-Roni out there is phenomenal. xadamhudsonx

That is good to know about Chambers. I found an article on top "date night" restaurants in SF and that was at the top of the list. I'll cross that one off and look into your other suggestions. lexicondevil
Stop in Smuggler's Cove for some damn fine drinks. The interior is dark and people compare it to Pirates of the Caribbean. They also have cool tiki mugs that you can purchase to commemorate your time there. Fun times.
