I usually only bother with cassettes if that's the only format available. Price is definitely a huge factor. Also, they're more durable, easier to use and they sound good and warm if they were made well and you have a nice deck. And sometimes, like you mentioned, with the more experimental genres or underground artists I listen to, cassettes are the only physical format available.
