What were the first 5 albums you bought? (cds/cassette/vinyl)

Recommended Posts

I can't remember exactly but probably something along the lines of:

Sum 41 - All Killer No Filler

Nickleback - Silver Side Up

Big Shiny Tunes 6

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue

The last CD I bought was No Devolucion.  I had recently started collecting vinyl, and for some reason decided to buy it on CD in HMV.

When I was really young, tapes just ended up in my possession (like Raffi and shit), but the first tape I remember purchasing with my own money was New Kids On The Block's Hangin' Tough, followed shortly by Nelson's After The Rain.

The first CD I ever received was the Cranberries' Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can't We? as a Christmas gift from my aunt, and the first CD I ever bought was Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell.

As for vinyl, that's a lot trickier, but I do remember buying the Jejune/Jimmy Eat World 7-inch very early on in my record-buying career (like 1997, I think? or did it come out in '98?) as well as a used copy of Social Distortion's White Light, White Heat, White Trash on vinyl for like $4.

My first record ever was a Tangerine Dream album when I was 11 or so, followed by a ton of Beatles and CCR.

Everyone's got me feeling old here. The first 5 that were given to me as gifts...

Vanilla Ice- To the Extreme

Kris Kross- Totally Krossed Out

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- Coming out of Our Shells

Vanilla Ice- Extremely Live

Snow- 12 Inches of Snow

Like most small town children of the early 90s, I was pretty damn into Vanilla Ice and all things Turtles. After getting more into music, the first 5 cassettes I bought on my own accord were...

Green Day- Dookie

Bush- Sixteen Stone

Nirvana- Nevermind

Offspring- Smash

Metallica- Metallica

The first physical format stuff I ever bought was vinyl on RSD2014; didn't wanna spend the money on CDs, but the vinyl thing started piquing my interest so I figured getting Colors Live would be a good way to see if I was into it. Now here I am.

I probably can't remember the order honestly, but:

BTBAM - Colors Live

Dionaea - Still

Death - Leprosy

BTBAM - S/T

BTBAM - Alaska

I also had those Vanilla Ice and Kris Kross tapes, and my brother had the TMNT tape (which I most likely still have memorized to this day).

i honestly don't remember this lol. it's hard for me to separate what was given to me, what i bought, and what i took from my parents. my dad was huge into grunge, which i also liked when i was way young. i remember getting into his nirvana and stp cds. but i also remember owning jewel's pieces of me, hanson's middle of nowhere, & the spice girls debut. i think those were gifts though.

my dad was a member of columbia house so he'd always let me pick a cd or 2 from there since they were only a penny each. i remember that's how i got clarity and bleed american by jimmy eat world.

i'm a mess, i have no idea.

1. Green Day - Dookie (CD) on release day

2. Weezer - Blue Album (cassette)

3. R.E.M. - Monster (cassette)

4. Green Day - Kerplunk! (CD)

5. Better Than Ezra - Deluxe (CD)

I'm glad you said top 5 and not 10, cause as embarassing as BTE was I think it got worse for a couple years

Hahaha. I don't even know how to respond to this. Owning Enema of the State was a pretty big feat with the Parental Advisory and all, which was actually enforced here. Bringing it to the hockey dressing room for pre-game Blink-182 didn't hurt the rep. Otherwise, no friends.
