how much do you pay in taxes each year? over $75,000.

how many publicly-funded things do you take advantage of? roads and national defense.

how much do you think those things cost? a lot.

what happens if you pay less in than you get out? you get screwed.

is that theft? yes.

  • I think this website shows the 2016 tax brackets.  depending on your income, you would "deserve" to keep between 60-100% of your income.  after a bit of math, I think my effective tax rate is ~20%, but that's not counting deductions and things like that.
  • I'm not sure what "it" refers to, but I'm guessing it means "my tax money".  in that case, I think everyone deserves "it" and they each deserve an ~equal share of it (e.g., everyone has access to public schools, libraries, highways, etc.).  some people (based on their income, family size, etc.) need a little extra help (e.g., housing, food, insurance, etc.), so we give those people access to additional resources.
  • if you refuse to pay your taxes and you get caught, there's probably a fine or potentially some jail time.

i agree that i deserve to keep 60-100% of what i earn. however, keep in mind that those brackets you linked only apply to federal income tax. it doesn't include state, social security, medicare, corporate, property, or sales tax. add those all up and i get less than the 60-100% of my income you think i deserve.

you say everyone deserves an equal share of tax dollars collected, but then go on to say that certain people should get more than others. that's not equality.

if i refuse to pay my taxes, then i will face both fines and jail time (which ironically costs even more taxpayer money).

I like taxes, even if I pay more than I get out.  I've benefited from ~22 years of public education and worked for publicly-funded places (academia and gov) for the past few years, so now it's time to "pay it forward."  after all, it seems like kind of a dick move to go to public schools for free and then bitch about how your property taxes are too high once you've graduated.

i didn't go to public schools, so i never benefited from "free" public education. i've never worked for publicly-funded places. all i've done is pay-it-forward ever since i decided to work and earn money. i pay high property taxes.

taxation is theft. however, that doesn't mean i'm unwilling to consider fair programs that help the needy and disadvantaged. equality is not possible, fairness is.

i don't understand how the left thinks it is wrong to deport people who enter this country illegally, have children, and receive benefits from the tax dollars of american citizens because it would tear them away from their families. yet at the same time, think it is ok to throw working american citizens in jail, fine them, and tear them away from their families if they refuse to pay taxes. this is sick and twisted logic that does not benefit americans.

people don't inherently deserve other people's money. although lending a helping hand to those in need should be encouraged, starting first with the actual citizens of the country in which you live.

A lot of the taxes at the state and local level could be supplemented by federal dollars if we could reallocate how disproportionately our federal budget is distributed.  Your property taxes are there because there is little else in money streams to pay for local services.

I was going to respond to your claim of paying taxes at the rate you said but I knew already your response was going to be what it was

oh man, that speech in Ohio...I just...I just can't...

not his best speech, but to be fair he was speaking to PA/OH steel and factory workers who have seen the bulk of production go to china (who is currently producing more steel than the rest of the world can even use). there's no point in discussing anything but the economy in those parts of the USA. hillary will do nothing to create jobs for those americans and she's been extremely supportive of policies (WTO, sweatshop havens, weak intellectual property enforcement) that continue to move jobs to china and make chinese steel (and other goods) so cheap.

the US trade deficit with china was $365.7 billion in 2015, an all-time high. that's not good for the USA.

america first.

i still don't understand how hillary and her lawyers got to decide which emails to provide to FBI. isn't the job of the FBI to seize the entire private server and determine exactly what type of negligence and corruption took place? if this was us regular folk and we were under FBI criminal investigation, there is no way in hell we would be able to delete emails and hand over to the FBI the ones we pre-approved. whole investigation was a sham and she still broke the law and lied about it! SAD!

100% agree with you on this one.

You can tell that they wish they could indict her, and basically had to explain they couldn't because the case wouldn't go anywhere.

sad, sad state of affairs. politicians are supposed to uphold the law. not be above it, break it, lie about it, face zero consequences, and then run for office.

She wasn't trading government secrets to other countries. She wasn't sharing classified information with other governments. She wasn't doing what she did with the intent of harming the US. That's how they are justifying letting her go.

She did it so she could keep total control of her emails. Possibly there are more sinister reasons but its really just speculation. It's smart if you want to be a private and secretive person. Apparently this is not illegal, even for a high ranking government employee.

Sorry, it's not illegal as long as you maintain ignorance the entire time.

I've fired people for forwarding their work email through their personal email.

If the email server is not internal it's not secure, period.

Illegal?  Not inherently, it depends on what contracts you've signed and what your employer decides to do about the infraction.  But I wouldn't want someone so careless in my employ, let alone running a country.

Most people would have been fired, fined and banned from ever holding a government position ever again. She is not most people. She is Hillary Clinton. Her husband is Bill Clinton. They have tremendous power in politics. If you go against them and lose, your career is finished.

That is the exact injustice.

It really is sad to see someone like that get away with anything she does. It's hard to believe that all of her supporters just look past her crimes. Kind of scary!

and Mexico pays for the tab - in fact it just got 10 times bigger.

mexico didn't want to pay for the tab. they were drinking at the bar longer than anyone and tried to skip out on the check. however the bartender, who was an awesome deal maker, told mexico to pay up now or forever get cut off. mexico complied. the socialist tried to moving to canada, but was denied at the border. luckily, the socialist had conned loads of ignorant poor people to give them hundreds of millions of dollars, so now they are living very comfortably in a rich neighborhood in the USA. the warmonger was tried for war crimes and human rights violations and is now serving time in federal prison. people were so impressed with the bartender's handling of the situation that they elected them as the next president of the USA.
