This thread makes me realize that if I could vote I probably wouldn't

Why are you spending your three day weekend trying to talk to a bunch of grumpy old dudes on the internet? Take your best gal to the ice cream social or sock-hop or something.

Cool. So I imagine (and genuinely hope) the next time you need help you won't be calling the cops...or even better you punch the next cop you see, you've quit your job to live on a commune (instead of complaining about how you haven't gotten a raise like you have been for the past few months), and in an emergency you ask your first-responder what their belief system is and tell them to fuck off if they're Christian.

You talk a big game but you don't practice what you preach. Either take action on this shit you keep talking...OR instead of acting like you want to go out and fight all these people, maybe practice some understanding for your fellow human beings who may not share exactly the same ideals you do.

But Patton Oswalt hates "SJWs!"

Art and comedy DO have a liberal bias though. But y'all have Larry the Cable Guy, so good for you.

How the fuck are you gonna be from NY and be completely oblivious to hilarious non-liberal comics like Robert Kelly, Jim Florentine, Rich Vos, Big Jay Oakerson, Bonnie McFarlane, Tim Dillon, Paul Virzi, Joe List, Mike Lawrence, the list goes on and on. You really should get out more. Like REALLY REALLY should.

hmm... is it possible that this statement was delivered with tongue in cheek? As if to gently poke fun at oneself while also expressing exasperation at this stupid toilet thread? Regardless, I shall reply in earnest

It's very possible...but when he comes into threads spouting a bunch of ACAB bullshit, is super into socialism, and has expressed genuine hate for Christians at different point I take him at his word.

I'd like to talk to someone who's from that far extreme, but nobody I have spoken to wants to have an actual discussion. I'd like to have a "well, I understand that you think xxxx, but why? You probably  have some experiences I don't, so tell me what has led you to this far extreme belief. From my life experiences I have come to believe xxxxx, and here's why." type of conversation. I'm 16, I don't have a full view (or at least the same view) of the world, I am sure most of you have more insight than I do just because you have been around and lived more than I have. Let's compare experiences and beliefs respectfully and maybe learn from each other.

I wish all young people (and most older people) could have the open frame of mind thinking that you have

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean "tell me what to think" which is what a lot of people think I mean by this/if I try to talk to them. Just because we talk doesn't mean we have to agree, but I do have no problem changing my opinion or views if presented with sufficient evidence. Don't know why it isn't universally like that, we'd make a lot more fucking progress that way.

I didn't care to know ANYTHING about politics until I was about 14/15 years old and in my freshman year in high school. Through punk rock I knew the government was not to be trusted and fuck authority, but then 9/11 happened. Seeing those planes hit the towers live on the news in my science class flipped a switch in me. I needed to know why this was all happening. I've always had a firm anti-war and anti-violence stance, I hated George Bush, and of course sided with the left because of this. I identified as a Liberal until I started to noticed how bad government intervention is on all fronts. I grew up in a bad neighborhood with mostly black and latino friends, it just became obvious that the state didn't give a fuck about any of us, and by opposing trust in the government I basically became an enemy of the left. Watching the way Liberals would grossly attack anyone who didn't 100% agree with their way of thinking ultimately distanced me from them entirely. To me they were (and still are) no different than people on the far right. Libertarianism spoke to me because it's most bottom line principle is the NAP (Non Aggression Principle), meaning you will not aggress or use violence against anyone unless it's in self defense. Couple this with the ever so obvious fact that we don't need to rely on a parasitical organization with a monopoly on violence to "parent" us and that socialism and communism could never work and the rest just clicks.

It's just as easy to say that libertarianism will never work as it is to say socialism never will.  For the last couple hundred years the democratic republic with laissez faire economics seems to have been pretty successful.  But it's a constantly evolving process.

I'm also a pacifist.  When Hillary ran in the 2008 primaries she did so on a platform with a plan to end the Iraq war in her first hundred days.  But now she has no words on it.  That sucks.

I think the next step for everyone disappointed in the current presidential race is to become more engaged in the gubernatorial and senatorial races and legislative propsitions.  The president is just a figurehead anyway.  Except for those Supreme Court nominations.

It was definitely self parody.

I hate Christians who think their private religious beliefs should affect our laws/government in any way. I feel that about any religion, but it's "Christain" politicians who have sway here. I use quotes because most of them are pandering hypocrites. I know that's not all Christians. Some of them actually follow what the Jesus dude was all about. You know, helping the poor and the oppressed and accepting your fellow humans. A true Christian would never think that it's their right to refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple or any of that shit that makes the news. Besides, if anything that Jesus motherfucker would be a socialist.

The only way in which I believe religion should actually be governed is that it should be taxed. Every church, temple, mosque, whatever should have their income taxed. I'm against religion itself, not people's right to practice it. Atheism needs to be the baseline for the government. Or agnosticism I guess.  And no religion should receive any kind of privilege.

You understand why it's hard to separate what is tongue in cheek from reality with you though, right? Especially in this case because you actually do repeatedly bring up that you think all cops are bastards, etc and then group something you're very serious about with something that is self-parody. Linking together two completely different tones in the same statement makes the self-parody not read as such.
