Yeah. If people have enough patience and wait until it ships, there will be plenty on eBay and you would at most pay $5-$10 over the retail price.

It's really silly that new crate memberships are based on the calendar month and not active for 1 month after sign up.

I signed up on Sunday so I could buy RATM Evil Empire and I'm due for renewal on 8/2. There's nothing else I currently want to buy and I have no idea what else is in the works so I don't feel inclined to pay the fee again so soon.

Yea, I was initially kind of pissed. But even just buying the one record only cost about $4 more than getting a copy on Amazon. I can live with that.

Are you sure you got charged already?  The reason I ask is, I just signed up a last week month to month and I haven't been charged my $27.  It says that will charge on the 2nd (and my subscription status says "Future".  So maybe your Crate subscription is the same way?  Because the current store open is the August Store (items that will ship with August deliveries).

Yep, already got charged the $6 for the sub (7/25) and $23 (7/27) for the record.

I understand your overall point about calendar month vs. a full month, but keep in mind this month's store was weird/different with the RATM exclusive not being available until 10 days after the store opened. Normally everything in that month's store is available on the day the store opens (usually around the 16th of the month), so if you're just signing up for a Crate subscription to have access that month's store you wouldn't (potentially) be getting charged again until approx. 2 weeks later, not a few days later.

Like I said, I wound up paying about $4 more than I would have for a standard copy at Amazon (actually closer to about $2 since there was no tax) and I can live with that. I'm not mad, and now I know how they do things for future reference. It's just a little shady to offer a month subscription for $6 only to have meant *that* current calendar month. I couldn't find anywhere on the site where it stated that info.
