Tommy
The bassline alone in this song is possibly better than anything Coldplay has done post Parachutes Halo 2
clerk3745
I'll get the standard LP whenever it hits stores. I like Radiohead but I've never been one the diehards. They've never disappointed me either so I know I'll get this out of principle.

This song isn't objectively bad. The middle period Coldplay reference was more speaking to the fact that this song had nothing dynamically that made it an interesting Radiohead song, it's safe beyond safe. I guess my gripe is while technically good, it sounds like it was written by very bored, though talented group of middle aged dudes. If you want to tell me i'm wrong or that i don't know anything knock yourself out. But if you're gonna tell me the you are riding the "Hype Train" for this the same way you were for Kid A, Hail to the Thief or even In Rainbows, you are either lying to me or yourself. throwgncpr and WAXXX

birdwell
With so much great music out there to consume.....why does anybody even know the different periods of Coldplay's discography? Heard part of one song about a decade ago and immediately was done with it. This new track isn't bad at all, I love it more than any single track off of King of Limbs Halo 2, rogeoa8 and mrewest

nancy_raygun
Not catching the comparisons to Coldplay so much. I agree that this is one of the better songs Radiohead has put out in a while and I'm looking forward to a new album. 1 hour ago, birdwell said: .....why does anybody even know the different periods of Coldplay's discography? Instrumentally, this song is experimental AF, and hugely inspired by the avant garde work of Steve Reich. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but calling it "safe" says more about you than you know. natenomm, tape, agaetisbyrjun and 1 other

As a massive Radiohead fan, you hit the nail on the head. I'm just as excited for the new LP as you guys - but this song was safe. And if you've been a true Radiohead fan for years, the hype behind Burn the Witch was not quite justified with this good, but safe, single. A song they've teased for 13 years should have been more sweeping, orchestral, epic, and breathtaking than the song we got. THAT ISN'T TO SAY THE SONG IS BAD. toomanyrecords
To follow up my previous point - everyone is allowed to have their opinion on the single. It could be your favorite song ever, sure. But for a band that has given us 10/10 masterpieces like Kid A, OK Computer and In Rainbows... they set the bar very high for themselves, and I don't think this single achieves that level of immediate glory that the other albums provided. I just don't think it's worthy of dickriding. And as mentioned, BtW has a 13 year history and is easily the most anticipated song they've ever referenced in their massive career -- and for that, I am underwhelmed. In the least pretentious way possible I wish to say that I feel like this single appeals more to casual Radiohead fans than it does to die hard ones. throwgncpr and chkadea
rooks
Damn guys jacobmckinley knows more about how into radiohead i am than even i do. What else can you teach me about myself??
