POTUW
I recently got my hands on a Sanyo TP 1012 for dirt cheap and aside from a few small cosmetic flaws, it plays wonderfully. However, I've always noticed that the strobe bulb is extremely dim. I can see it come on in a dark room, but not enough to truly reflect on the platter, and with a light on, you wouldn't even know it was on. I've done multiple tests with other lights and applications, and even by ear, and they all show that the table holds a consistent speed, but my question here is; should this cause me to worry about a potentially bigger issue? I can live with a dim bulb, I just don't want it to be the first step to something more.
slinch
a dim bulb just means that the bulb has gone dim, it won't have any effect on the performance and the only thing it says is that bulbs apparently wear out that's not to say that other components don't have a certain limited lifespan, with older equipment there are many parts that can (and will) begin to malfunction due to age, but there isn't a direct correlation

I guess like any electronic device, you just enjoy it while you can. I am relieved, however, to find out this at least isn't a warning sign.
