What? I'm in California and it was like $28PPD

i guess it autoselected fedex for me  due to my last order from them when i clicked checkout, i had to go back and edit the shipping preference to DP instead.

i think this release has the instrumentals on a 2nd (bonus) lp.

Yup.

"Celestial", their new album with Man Bites Dog Records, is available in a limited quantity of 500 copies on Blue Vinyl in exclusive collaboration with hhv.de. The Deluxe Edition includes all instrumentals (one of it is more a dub version).

I do love me some BSBD, but I can't get into anything that they have artists perform over.  Getting lost in the hazy soundscapes of NOIR is something magical, and I guess it's just spoiled me – I feel like vocal deliveries are such a distraction on top of their music.  Stoked for those who are stoked on this, though.

Totally agree.  Vocals only detract from their awesomeness.

But the deluxe has an instrumentals disk! I have no idea how everyone is sleeping on this.

You're not wrong.  My only concern with that is that it'll replicate the last Clams Casino record.  I love that guy's instrumental [or mostly instrumental] mixtapes – S/T, II, and III – but that 32 Levels record he dropped this year was a snooze fest in my books; both with and without vocals.  I made a post about it in that respective thread... but it mostly boiled down to this: when there aren't any vocals or hooks being delivered on top of the music, there's a greater drive to maintain the listener's attention.  The songs weave and dip and tell their own stories because they've got the spotlight.  They also take some pretty atypical approaches that you don't really get with a backing beat that's obviously catered to be performed over, you know?  All of that takes a backseat when vocals are behind the wheel, and as a result I feel like the instrumentals don't have to be as interesting or engaging.  They become the stage instead of demanding it.  I think that producers know that all too well, and it seems to translate into less interesting or memorable instrumentals.

Just my 2¢.  The variant and packaging does look killer; I'd be cool with being completely wrong and sleeping on this for now, and chasing it at a later date.  But this close to the holidays, especially, I can't really gamble on another Clams Casino conundrum.  That's my excuse for passing on it, anyway.

All fair points.

I enjoyed 32 Levels, though. Not as good as his previous work, but still solid beats. No regrets getting the limited.

As for this tape, I don't fall into the same issue you guys do -- I enjoy a lot of the vocals from what I've heard. Especially the Nacho Picasso track. He's such an underrated rapper and I love when BSBD work with him.
