I honestly think I stayed away because I already listened to GLACIERS & didn’t want another band with basically the same name in the same genre in my life 🤣
dawhizz
I dip my toe in the post-rock pool from time to time, though I tend toward prog rather than metal/doom/etc. This is the stuff I’ve listened to recently that’s impressed me: https://thenightwatch.bandcamp.com/album/an-embarrassment-of-riches https://myriaddrone.bandcamp.com/album/arka-morgana https://soldathans.bandcamp.com/album/es-taut Related question - are there blogs people here follow (or run) to hear new stuff/reviews in this genre? I like Echoes and Dust and Everything is Noise and The Prog Mind for prog, but I’d be interested to hear about more.

omik11303
Didn't Arctic Drones close up shop last summer? Might have even been before that. It was definitely the best post-rock/instrumental blog out there. No idea what happened but they just stopped posting and it looks like the website is public domain now. I mostly just browse the relevant tags on Bandcamp and the wherepostrockdwells YouTube for new stuff. Heavy Blog is Heavy is probably my favorite online music review/blog site. @dawhizz dawhizz

wisdom81
Had no idea this was even going to happen but a new Holy Fawn EP just leaked. 15 minutes long, 3 songs.

Soldat Hans is one of the greatest hidden gems nowadays I think, es taut is a perfect combination of post metal/dark jazz and Isis vocals. I begged the band for months to send me the super heavy deluxe concrete version of the LP and they finally did, so I am beyond happy now. Holy shit this is awesome. Thanks for posting. It’s on Spotify. Basically 2 songs & an interlude. But I’ve been dying for that studio Blood Pact since seeing at Post Fest. Song of the damn year already. wisdom81

Right now, your best best for a blog is Heavy Blog's Post-rock Post or whatever they call it. My buddy David writes for them. This Soldat Hans album is fucking.... interesting. It's achingly beautiful, and sounds kind of like Godspeed meets Isis haha. EDIT - this Soldat Hans album is fucking amazing. Holy shit. For me this album was like hearing shels' Plains Of The Purple Buffalo for the first time, maybe due to trumpet usage and ethereal atmosphere. For sure it is coming from the doom side of the genre but still fascinating.

Well it's got the aggro vocals, and then the trumpet I guess makes me think of Skinny Fists. I'd adjust the sound to more EF like I think. Gumbo72203
new Sleepmakeswaves has me extremely hopeful. MOBO is a good album but not at all what I enjoy from them. I don't like the math/djenty thing they started towards. This new song is very reminiscent of their post-rock roots. I like it a lot. https://sleepmakeswaves.bandcamp.com/album/these-are-not-your-dreams-ep-trilogy

mrewest
I’m finally breaking up the ITTCT collection. Keeping a copy of everything but unloading as much as I can. Not looking to give stuff away but willing to bundle if anyone is interested. Hit me up. Giving you first dibs but will probably get on Discogs this week too. whoa
Just looked at the line-up for Arctangent this year and super pumped that The Samuel Jackson Five are apart of the lineup so hoping that means new album time! (Also Totorro appear to be touring again so maybe new material there but wrong thread) The Vool and anchorlessbodies
