honeydripper88
Hello, new member here. I'm brand new to collecting and recently received a Jensen JTA475B and a handful of used Lps as a gift. When I play the vinyl I get a very distorted sound; it's usually worse on certain noises, usually S's and other things. It came with an am/fm radio, CD player, cassette player, and six port to plug a phone or other music player into it. They all sound bad but the phonograph component is the worst which sucks since that's the very reason I wanted a player in the first place. Any advice? Thanks in advance. circuit bored records
Sorry to report but a sub-$100 all-in-one turntable is always going to sound bad, no matter what Advice? 1. Thank whoever gave it to you for the thought 2. Throw it in the trash 3. Seek out something better
honeydripper88
Thanks for the reply. What about an Audio Technical lp-60? It's got some great reviews that I've read but like I said I'm totally new to this and don't really understand what all I need to purchase in order to have a functional unit. Saxonjulin
An lp60 is the perfect entry level turntable. It's what I started with. You'll eventually outgrow it and wanna upgrade to probably a lp120 later
Jlegg
The best advice is to read the beginners thread that you're supposed to read before you post. What you buy will be dependent on how much money you're willing to spend. An AT-LP-60 will work, but is not considered a good turntable by any measure and prolonged use will damage your records.
