harryq 200
okay, before anyone gets carried away, I think this (or something similar) has been mentioned before, and it's probably the same records for the most part. having said that, the prices on a number of records that I keep being tempted to pull the trigger on continue to drop on roughly a weekly basis, and I'm wondering if anyone else is doing the same (opening up a couple of amazon tabs once a day is a nice distraction from writing my master's thesis) NIN - The Slip $8.02 (not that cheap, but significantly cheaper than I've found anywhere else) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B71NPC/ref=oss_product Anti-Flag - The People or the Gun $3.66 (yes, this has been on clearance at Hot Topic for about 6 months, but still) http://www.amazon.com/People-Gun-Vinyl-Anti-Flag/dp/B00230AHY4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1278982379&sr=1-2 Julien-K - Death to Analog $5.41 http://www.amazon.com/Death-Analog-Vinyl-Julien-K/dp/B001T46UB4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1278982862&sr=1-5 Dead By Sunrise - Out of Ashes $12.89 $12.57 $12.26 $11.95 (not really a big fan of them, but it's basically Julien-K + chester from Linkin Park... anyway, it's gone down $2 over the past 2-3 weeks) http://www.amazon.com/Out-Ashes-Vinyl-Dead-Sunrise/dp/B002MJM85C/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1278982249&sr=1-5 The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die $12.66 $12.34 $12.03 $11.73 (I've seen this one as low as ~$7, but I didn't have the free amazon prime for students then, so I'm waiting for this to get that low again) http://www.amazon.com/Invaders-Must-Die-Vinyl-Prodigy/dp/B001PA65VM/ref=br_lf_m_1000511031_2_36_ttl?ie=UTF8&s=music&pf_rd_p=1264267362&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000511031&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0MNSXJD4YRFSHTJKS74B but yeah, anyone know of any other records that are plummetting in price on amazon? firehazardrecords
pukebileforever 24
Be careful about buying vinyl on amazon. I've tried to buy vinyl on Amazon twice, and both times it came to me as a cd even though it was listed as vinyl. The prices were even consistent with the going rate of the vinyl so the listing seemed legit. silversurfer91
harryq 200
hmm... never had that problem before. I have had the occasional packaging issue with them (they either use a box that's too big (not that bad) or a box that's too small (sucky)), but I haven't ordered anything from them for a few months and supposedly they're getting better. I'd imagine they'd be pretty good at fixing the cd/vinyl issue at no cost to you (other than your time)...?
manicdogbert 6
i've never had a problem with getting vinyl from Amazon. i've always gotten vinyl and not CDs and the vinyl has always arrived in tip top shape. there are a few folks on here who have had problems though. i got both the Nirvana Live at Reading double LP and the Bleach double LP reissues for $10 each at separate times. it seems like there is some automatic pricing going on and you need to catch them at the right moment to a good price. coldsnap 1
they should put down the price of those oasis records
scully 0
Last record from Amazon came in a huge box BUT not wide enough for a 12" Needless to say the record was bent. Amazon has free returns and they sent out a new one right away so I'd probably play my luck again if something was cheap enough.
themullet89 9
Yeah, never had the cd vs. vinyl issue, but did have the packaging issue a couple weeks back with a Lucero LP they had on sale. Came bent as hell because the box was too small. Got it taken care of in no time though - free replacement.
oakland 3
You have to be very careful reading those things too. Just because it says "LP" doesn't mean it's vinyl. Nor does the word "record" mean vinyl. LP means "long playing" or full-length album. Record just means a collection of songs. It's dishonest to use those titles to describe a CD, but not technically wrong. Beware.

Beware. you can always just click on vinyl in the format section if you're searching in the music department (not to mention they usually list "Vinyl" in the product name), but I'm always careful anyways. I've also noticed that they sometimes put "Single" in the title when I don't think it is, such as the "Invaders Must Die" record in my original post is evidence of that, I believe. while there is a single of that name, I think it would listed as an import, and I'm pretty sure it's not a double. but yeah, gotta be a little careful
plasma36 128
There was one of these clearances a couple months ago. Will definitely keep up on this one and hopefully not miss out.

Ya agreed, unfortunately for me both times I got screwed the word "vinyl" was right in the title in capital letters. I totally support Amazon though, as they got the money back for me both times. I've heard stories of people snagging rare records from Amazon on the cheap as well, so I'd likely try again. I'll just have to take the chance of getting a CD, getting it shipped in a ridiculously over-sized box, or getting a record shipped in an envelope.
harryq 200
if any of you were paying attention to this a few weeks ago and were watching a particular record, you should check it out now. four of the records I've been watching are 80% off right now

garrygumguru 0
I was buying some dog toys and figured I might as well hop on some deals. I have had a record I ordered from Amazon come in a giant box with air cushions, or whatever they're called, and the corners where all bent out of shape. But a lot of posters here have been claiming they're getting better, so what the heck? I picked up that Anti-Flag for $2.99 and Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown for $4.49. I haven't really been all that into Green Day's newest music, but that price for a double LP is pretty hard to pass up. After the dog toys and records I was $0.96 short of qualifying for super saver discount, so I bought The Oblongs series which was down to $12.99 again. Oh, for grins and giggles I got the Hide-a-Bee and Hide-a-Squirrel toys if dog owners were curious. Great toys, last a long time.

plasma36 128
I missed out on the last two sales of this kind, but I'm glad I did because I got fucking amazing deals. Oneida's "Rated O" (triple LP) for $5.49, two of the Young Widows split 7"s for $1.50 each, Keelhaul's newest (double 180g) for $4, Clouds's "We Are Above You" (LP+12") for $4, etc etc. I found this right before I was planning on going to bed, and stayed up for another hour and a half looking for deals.
