scottheisel
Hi there, VC. It's me, Scott Heisel. VC's longest-tenured member and second-highest all-time poster. (Both of these things aren't really worth bragging about but I'll take what I can get.) Many of you know me from my decade spent working at Alternative Press, or if you're an OG, you read Punknews.org back when I was one of the editors. It's been a few years since my full-time music journalism career was put on hold, but I got tired of not writing about music anymore — so I'm going to start writing about music again. I created a newsletter called Colors Of Insomnia, which is currently free to subscribe, and I would be honored if you signed up at https://colorsofinsomnia.substack.com. Much, much more to come, but for now, click the link above. Also, if you've ever enjoyed my writing, I would greatly appreciate you sharing this link to your respective social circles. Thank you. scottheisel
The first issue of Colors Of Insomnia is out, and it deals with the mess that was Sonic Temple Festival (as well as a reminder of how great the Hives and the Interrupters are). Read and subscribe for free, and please share if you like it: https://colorsofinsomnia.substack.com/p/coi001-whats-your-plan-for-tomorrow

One Hundred Fifty-Two
These have become the go to reading while my daughter takes a nap. I also go ahead and download everything you mention. I haven’t listened to the swellers in years.
jhulud
I'm enjoying these so far. Always a treat to read up on new stuff I haven't heard. I will say though...I've enjoyed more of the "opinion piece" style like the first piece. I've always enjoyed that type of music writing the most. I loved this band so much younger but when it died the first time, it should have stayed dead... Were you at the Aaron West show at The Basement in Columbus the other day? gabe005
I kinda dig the collection of random thoughts actually. Or maybe I just enjoy the back and forth between that format and the full on cohesive stories to keep things fresh. Also, I'm waaaaaay into that new Black Midi album. Glad to hear someone else is too! More people should know about them... best new music I've heard in a while.
