travis
If anyone wants to follow the draft, this is being updated regularly http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/06/06/2010-mlb-draft-tracker/
kirbypuckett
He'll probably get a little less than what Strausberg got. Less? He's a Boras guy, he'll get more. Pirates took Jameson Taillon, I wanted them to take Machado, but either pick works. We need pitching and hopefully this guy can become an ace for us in the future. ...if we can sign him. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
a lot of prep HS arms in this draft, its weird. gallardo is a HS 1st rd draft pick, and he's turned out alright, so far. heres hoping that dylan covey will turnout to be decent
flood
how do the supplemental picks work... wouldnt the yanks get 2 picks for losing A level talent like Matsui, and Damon? or do they basically trade those picks for other free agent signings? mediocore
how do the supplemental picks work... wouldnt the yanks get 2 picks for losing A level talent like Matsui, and Damon? or do they basically trade those picks for other free agent signings? They should have two for Damon (Type A FA), but wouldn't have received any for Matsui (he missed almost all of 2008, which hurt his ranking). Not sure if they still have the picks though... travis
Angels drafted 3 kids in the first round all from high schools in Georgia, kinda weird. They all sound pretty good but are all so young still, hard to say where they'll be in a few years.
Duff
was hoping the yanks would take Ranaudo after he fell to them at the last pick. the one time i wouldn't care if they drafted a kid with injury problems. i had the pleasure of watching Ranaudo pitch in high school and he had some of the best stuff for a high school kid i'v ever seen. he was a beast in high school. he threw back-to-back no hitters as a sophomore and had 99 strikeouts and an ERA under 1 as a junior. his senior year was a bit of a down year by his standards but at that point he already signed with LSU and had won a state championship. kirbypuckett
Strasburg makes his debut tonight against the Pirates. He'll probably have a good game, but I'd like to see McCutchen and Walker do well against him.
mclz
Excited about Strasburg, but I will at work so I have have to keep myself updated on my phone and watch hilights when I get home.
flood
ok im totally torn between wanting this kid to get fucking lit up because of all the stupid hype surrounding him, and wanting him to be the 2nd coming of Cy Young to make the nationals a more formidable team because i feel bad that they suck constantly. kirbypuckett
...but the Pirates suck more! Haha, if he can hold his own they'll be a decent time. They're pretty set if him and Harper are the real deal.
mclz
So when was the last time the Pirates sold out a game?
dynamitekid
Im sad I can't watch this because I don't have mlb network. Part of me wants to see Strasberg just get lit up tonight and not make it out of the first inning.
flood
haha one blogger wrote.... i hope he comes in... hits the mascot, then drills the leadoff man... gets thrown out of the game and during post game interviews says he did it to "control the path of his narrative"
tooclosetosee
I am hopefully going to watch the game tonight. I'm gonna go over to a friend who has the MLB network. I drafted him in my fantasy baseball league and I have been hearing all the scouting reports and waiting for this day so I hope he doesn't fall flat on his face. Everything I have read and what I saw with his last triple A game on Versus he is the real deal.

randysxe
man, strasburg was awesome! unbeleivable! i saw him once last year at tony gwynn stadium in san diego when he was at sdsu, it was amazing to see him pitch that close, good for him! he went to high school in san diego, west hills! out of high school, no one recruited him! the pitching coas for sdsu at the time basically had to convince gywnn they could work with him! when he first showed up, he had no training of any kind, through low 90s tops! by the end of first year, 98!! just got him in shape, running, and stronger! so rad to see!! i love baseball ,ike stanton was pretty awesome in his debut for the marlins as well! forgeagain
Pretty smart of Washington to start him when they did. The way the schedule works out this is who he faces in his first 4 starts: Pirates Indians White Sox Orioles or Royals (depending on if they don't give him an extra day of rest) Now that is a recipe for big league success. MattyIceyo
Yeah that is a decent line up. I DVR'd the game last nite, what a show for sure. Kid, IMO, will have a amazingly bright future ahead of him.
