Yes. I missed this season of most variant so both are same.

It’s the EMP exclusive who is different.

I think the Earache days were a good time for a Cult Of Luna vinyl collector. Just look at Eternal Kingdom first press: black vinyl and only 3 gorgeus limited variants, every one of them felt special. IMO thats the way to do this :).

(Im still searching for that transparent orange version for a reasonable price..)

But yeah, good that Raging River is selling well. Band really deserves it!

So...to be clear, here are all of the variants.  If someone could check this over, it would be great:

2) Bandcamp (1 color, 1 black (same black as above): https://cultofluna.bandcamp.com/  Galaxy - marbled effect made on clear vinyl with silver

I definitely agree with that era having really special variants (especially SATH and EK). At the same time, it's amazing to see the band venture out with their own label and see so much support for it's first release. Really reaffirms the impact their music has had and how vehement their fanbase is.

It appears there are two websites for Bengans..one for in the EU and one for outside the EU.

Outside EU:  https://www.bengans.com/cgi-bin/ibutik/AIR_ibutik.fcgi?funk=visa_artikel&artnr=3939017

Inside EU: https://www.bengans.eu/cgi-bin/ibutik/AIR_ibutik.fcgi?funk=visa_artikel&artgrp=&artnr=3939017&visa=1-400&Sort=Osorterat&Visn=Sokresultat

Shipping outside of Finland is 22 euros, making this a very expensive purchase...........ugh!!!!

LOL, yes, because they are forcing you to buy every variant...

Not every variant but I'm pretty confident they understand the collector thing that many people do.  Why else go bananas like this with all the options?

Regardless, it's a fuckload of product without hearing any of it yet.

Because options? If they know they can sell a bunch of records, why not make a bunch of records? Limiting a product below the market potential is just dumb. I'm getting sick and tired of having to sit at a computer and F5 a website because a band or label made way less of something that could sell to a larger audience. If they have to produce product in different parts of the world for different markets, then sure, do fun things with the colors and jackets.

All that said, and without rehashing the age-old variant collector debate, I don't blame them for capitalizing on this dumb trend. If I were in a band that moved this much product, I would totally troll variant collectors with a ton of options.

I'm wondering if maybe they got some sort of Covid grant from the government?  I'm thinking about it more, and this is their first independent release meaning they had to put up the capital themselves to press all this stuff.  It's A LOT of shit.  And if they didn't have to front the capital themselves, then it makes sense to run this much.

It's just a bit weird because nobody has heard it yet.  It's a lot of stuff to sell on name recognition only.  Granted, they're very reliable but it's still a risk.  It's smart though if it pays off - you sell one thing to somebody 10 times, you're brilliant.

But i agree with you - it annoys me when great bands purposefully limit their product.  Take Jakob, for instance.  They could be raking in money from their old albums, and they just don't do it.

Cult of Luna are Swedish and do get arts endowments from their government, even before COVID. I think they funded Mariner or something. Forget where I heard that, maybe in Johannes’s Saint Vitus interview

For Cult of Luna, it isn't a risk. After 20 years and about a dozen releases, they have a fan base, and they have been consistent enough with the quality of each release. It's not like this is a fledgling band. There is nothing weird about how this is being handled. The can sell these records without a problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

There might be another spatter variant at Norman Records, as it is is called, clear, white and blue splatter.  I don't think the other variants are called this, but who knows at this point....

Judging by the catalog number it’s the UK exclusive. The colors match the flag as the euro country exclusives all do.

Thanks!

Another one version !
