A repress went up today of Magdalena Bay's A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling. The two color variants sold out pretty quickly, but black is still available on their bandcamp.

I was really surprised how fast it sold out. Now if only they'd either repress the mini mixes or put them both on a 12"

Same. I saw the other variants about an hour after they were posted, and they were already sold out. I'm glad I was able to get a black copy at least.

This band seems to understand the demand for their vinyl so I wouldn't be surprised if the mixes show up soon.

During the early times of COVID I joined their livestream where they had people email to have a chance to buy one of the ten last copies of Vol 1. I had an email drafted and emailed the second they said the password to include in the email and I didn't make the cut. The demand is pretty crazy for them which is amazing, just not amazing for me as a vinyl collector lol. I never bothered getting Vol 2 since I figured I didn't have a chance at Vol 1. Hopefully Lumenelle can work on getting the rest pressed.

Some recommended April releases...

Hatchie - Giving the World Away

There are a few variants, all of them with holographic sleeves. IMO, the indie variant on coke bottle clear goes really well with the artwork. A solid sophomore album.

Lucius - Second Nature

Many different variants but most of them are some mixture of pink & purple to go with the album cover. Can't go wrong with the standard variant on translucent pink. I really enjoy the disco direction they went on a few songs.

The Regrettes - Further Joy

I think I posted about them before. Their new album had a limited pink variant as an indie exclusive. Their poppiest album yet and my favorite album of the month. My favorite song:

Really really loving Hatchie. That song is such a dreamy shoegazy pop perfection. Prompted me to check out all he rmusic and really enjoying it. Thank you for posting.

Now...should I nab the coke bottle clear from Electric Fetus or Sanity (since it's signed)...?

I went with Electric Fetus. It comes with a signed 11x17 (folded) poster.

On a more positive note Slayyyter surprised us with a new variant of the self-titled mixtape that she still hasn't said anything about lol. It was $45 at her Philly show AND signed. I couldn't resist. She's my favorite pop artist. It was cheaper at other shows and I don't think she's sold too many copies so if you're seeing her live in the future keep an eye out. She also had really nice tour posters for only $15 but I have to get a custom frame for it.

Really bummed that Lykke Li went back to her slow and boring style of music but maybe it's someone else's cup of tea. SSSS was incredible but this is more like the rest of her discography.

The December release for the vinyl is a bit too long to wait. I'm not really connecting with this album but I'll probably pick it up eventually to keep the discography complete.

Pale Waves new album "Unwanted" is set for release on August 12th.

4 Variants:

  • Standard "Black Ice"
  • Purple Galaxy (band/label exclusive)
  • Neon Pink (UK indies)
  • Holographic (SOLD OUT)

I didn't find any links to buy the variants outside the UK. In the US, black ice is easy to find. I would be cautious about buying direct from their merch store. I bought the band exclusive for the last album and it wasn't shipped for over a month after the release date. Their store's customer service is shit.

Anyone have any recommended pop releases for May?

Sacred Skin (originally Second Skin) put out their debut "The Decline of Pleasure" on cassette and digital. I really liked it. I found out about them when Drab Majesty did a remix of their song Eyes Closed in 2021. If you like Drab you'll like them. https://sacredskin.bandcamp.com/

I also really liked Becky G's album "ESQUEMAS" which is surprisingly only digital. She's huge with English and Spanish listeners and go figure she was coming to Delaware but the show got cancelled. I speak English and Spanish so I'm biased but I definitely recommend her stuff.

I haven't gotten to CARR's new EP (I guess?) "TV Boyfriends" that dropped Friday. Digital only. https://carrmusic.bandcamp.com/album/tv-boyfriends

2 others I haven't listened to are Isaac Dunbar's “Banish the Banshee” and Hayden Casey's “Nothing is the Time”

Purity Ring should have a new EP on June 3rd which I'm sure will be great.

New Ava Max album "Diamonds & Dancefloors" out October 14th. Translucent black ice is available on her webstore https://www.avamaxstore.com/products/standard-black-ice-vinyl

I assume this song (a bop) will be on it and hopefully there's a new song soon.
