Record Player Shelf

Currently upgrading my system, smashing some walls down etc like you do. 

 

I am looking into getting a shelf again for my record player to sit on as the old floorboards in my house can cause the needle to jump when you walk (dance) past. 

 

Just wondering if there is any major benefit to something like this:

To a normal wall mounted wooden floating shelf. 

 

I can't imagine the difference would be noticeable to an average listener to justify the £100 uplift. Surely it'll just sound the same as 99% of people who have it sat on top of a sideboard/ikea kallax etc.

As long as the shelf is pretty solid, I wouldn't expect the Project one to be leaps and bounds better.

 

Have you tried isolation pads/feet for the turntable? I got a set of Tablemates awhile back and it definitely helped quite a bit. Any bigger stomps will still come across, though wall mounting might not prevent that either.

The snap-in laminate flooring I installed in that room was a terrible choice.  🙄

Unfortunately you can see the entire sideboard move up and down when you walk past, it's like trying to play a record on a boat. 

 

Appreciate the response, went with the project shelf because I'm an impulse shopper with no will power. At least it should just work with no issues.
