I assumed it was because they were shot in the middle of the pandemic, but now I'm thinking it's intentional. They probably don't care, but it's odd given they are a vital part of this band's sound (at least when they're playing actual rock songs). I think the Drummer, Will, is the guy holding the "Curse" sign in this video. But yea, I haven't seen Kyle in anything yet, which I think is odd (but maybe doesn't live near them?) That fucking SUCKS! Those are gonna be big shoes to fill. He shreds, and contributed a lot to their overall sound :,( I don't have super high hopes for this next record tbh. From the Lisa Frank artwork style to the fact that it's being marketed like a Leah solo album, it seems like it's gonna be a whole LP of Double Down but with a ton of guitar pedal experimentation. Shitty Rambo Posted September 18, 2021 Share Posted September 18, 2021 So I got the scoop on Kyle Bann's departure by digging through IG comments, and let's just say it was to due very unsettling circumstances. I don't want to get into the nitty gritty here, but there are plenty of posts on Reddit for those of you who are interested. Regardless, I have spent quite a bit of time with this record now, and I have to admit it's much cooler than I was anticipating. It feels more like an extension of The Pact, but with more empahisis on Leah's vocals opposed to the band's instrumentation. It's definetly different in that regard, but still feels like a Slothrust album. I do wish there were a few more songs like The Next Curse because that one really hearkens back to the Everyone Else days (my favorite album from them). Overall this is a really good record. I also really appreciate how compact it feels, it doesn't overstay it's welcome and plants enough earworns in ya to make you want to replay it all over again as soon as it ends.
