Manic Street Preachers on Orwellian: “The track is about the battle to claim meaning, the erasing of context within debate, the overriding sense of factional conflict driven by digital platforms leading to a perpetual state of culture war. As with many songs on the record, it was written on the piano by James Dean Bradfield. Musically, it echoes ABBA, the majesty of Alan Rankine’s playing in the Associates and Talk Talk’s ‘It’s My Life’ with a Lindsey Buckingham guitar solo. It felt like the perfect sonic and lyrical introduction to ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’.” ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ is both reflection and reaction; a record that gazes in isolation across a cluttered room, fogged by often painful memories, to focus on an open window framing a gleaming vista of land melting into sea and endless sky. glass realms
Annoying as piss that Amazon UK prevents folks from the US from ordering the colored vinyl. Ordered the indie variant from Norman Records because they have cheaper int'l shipping than RT. Edited May 15, 2021 by glass realms

I'm gonna hold out for a bit to see if any other color variants pop up, but seeing as the indies version is just standard back with a bonus 7", I'm not holding my breath. I love the Manics to death, but mother of god, I have never encountered another band with their distribution so tightly locked-down. The closest I've seen is the recent MBV reissues... INRIhab
I should jump on the signed copy. I've got the Everything Must Go, The Holy Bible box sets signed along with the Reissues of Gold Against the Soul and Send Away the Tigers. One of my all the favourite bands of more than half my existence, that I've yet to see live!
openupyourskull
A quick update - I took a peek on Amazon UK again, and this time it let me ship the yellow to my US address! Came to about $46 shipped, but compared to what the black vinyl is selling for stateside, it's really only a few bucks more.
