Paved Paradise label expo on tour. Anyone else heard of it, going, or familiar?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else hear about this or go to it? I'm going to it tonight in Milton, DE of all places. You can see previews in IG posts and stories.

"From September 9 - 26, Secretly Group, the label consortium comprised of Dead Oceans, Ghostly International, Jagjaguwar, Numero Group, Secretly Canadian, embark on a travelling outdoor label expo, visiting fifteen cities across the eastern United States. Rolling up to a parking lot near you, Paved Paradise is the vinyl wonderland Joni was really singing about.

Part pop-up shop, part block party, and part roadside fruit stand alike, Paved Paradise brings the record store experience outdoors, giving an opportunity to test drive the latest sounds and styles flowing from five record companies operating at the top of their respective games.

Tucked under two tents, sonic specialists from the Secretly family will be onsite to talk shop, spin records and host special guests to also DJ and share their music knowledge. Expect bins packed with LPs, 45s, cassettes and CDs including exclusive products, limited colored vinyl variants, out of print items, gently used LPs, vintage compact discs and small run tapes. Browse our digital libraries using the Qobuz-powered Hi-Res listening station. Load up on T-shirts, mugs, totes, pins, socks, sunglasses, hats, and whatever other miscellany can fit into a 24-foot Penske."

I plan to attend the Detroit date next week.  I went to the Numero pop up at Third Man Cass Corridor a few years back.  Tons of deals as well as stuff not available online, and should be a similar experience this time with even more vendors.  I think if you like these labels then it’ll be worth checking out.

Nice! What did you grab? Are they cash only or can you pay with credit cards?

Someone grabbed the Cherry Glazer record I would have bought before me so I didn't buy anything. There were a few things that caught my eye, some things I had already, but I decided to save my cash. There were tons of people there too so they did well. If I saw right they're doing cash and card. There was more Numero stuff than anything, not a lot from Secretly which is what I was most interested in. They also have large box sets if you're into those. And more Duster records in one space than I had ever seen before lol.

I went to the Cleveland stop of this today. It was verrrry cold, but that's what they get for setting up on the shore of Lake Erie in late September.

It didn't feel like the records were really very organized (maybe they were at the start of the tour, but not now), and pricing was wildly inconsistent — for example, I'd see the same brand new, factory-sealed record priced at $20 and at $25. Tons of records weren't even priced either. So yeah, super-disorganized, but it was worth digging through the scratch-and-dent bins for some deals. I got two Tallest Man On Earth LPs and the new Seam Numero reissue for $10 each, plus the Indian Summer collection for $20 new. They threw in a tote bag with a handful of stickers/buttons/patches inside it too.
