How did you find Vinyl Collective?

This will be quite a story, So I'll add a Tl;dr for you guys :P

I have been collecting LP's for well over seven years now. I used to hang out at the vinyl subreddit (at reddit..) and Everything was nice and all. I thought though, In the end -- that you were not really able to socialize that much with the people of the subreddit. It was only people posting pictures of their newly bought turntables, turntables they found at a flea market, turntables everyone should avoid & pictures of their latest LP purchase.

Not saying that it is a bad thing, but you never really could engage in a discussion there. There was this one guy who had gotten a Sun Ra LP (the magic city) and he simply asked "what is this?" He didn't know anything about the artist and thought he could get some insight from the members, instead he got slandered, and he got hated for not liking the music. I myself owning that album, do agree with his feeling to the music completely.

Either way -- I thought in the end that the forum was only hostile after seeing what went down in that thread. People would post pictures of an LP they had bought on their turntable and would be treated terribly for owning a budget turntable and that they shouldn't listen to vinyl at all, and so forth. I am really looking for a forum that is into socialising, talking music & willing to listen & learn.

So I used the power of google and i got here! :)

TL;DR: Reddit subforum was bad.

Welcome!

Google made me do it!

I was just searching in which records to spend my not-excess money today and tomorrow and the day after... I kinda got lost in wandering around and here I was. Not until I ended up here a few times within a week, did I actually sign up.

But tell me... Am I blind or what? Where can I find the board rules?

I think I discovered this site in 2008. I started collecting Circa Survive vinyl, which kickstarted my obsession. I think I joined the old forums right when Circa were releasing their entire discography. I lost my old name when the old site went down and stopped reading up on new releases. Recently got back into it after rediscovering the wonderful conversation on VC. Now my wallet is sad once again, but I'm happy.

Hey-o.

I came across this board while scouring the webs for a couple releases. I've been collecting for about 20 years, and I've always been reading music blogs, but never thought to actually look for a vinyl blog. There's some cool info here. I'm a record nerd. Mostly Punk/Early Reggae/Soul/Afrobeat. 45rpm is my speed of choice, and 7" is my size of choice. Looking forward to reading all the posts here, and buying some records!
