Guest Admin
Jordan Baker of Pastepunk recommended I pick this up as a good followup to the Ronen Kaufman book we have. I have yet to read it, but it is on my list of books to pick up. While much ink has been spilled over 1980s punk and hardcore mythology, very little has been done to document the era that followed. Indeed, it's a glaring omission. In the 1990s, punk rock entered its adolescent stage and began reevaluating its own music, politics, and traditions. And before long, the result of this collective soul-searching became clear: If hardcore wanted to remain relevant in the new decade, it was going to have to rebel against itself. "The Anti-Matter Anthology" is perhaps the first published book dedicated to this transition. Features interviews with: * Elliott Smith * FARSIDE * Ian MacKaye * Glen E. Friedman * INTO ANOTHER * JAWBOX * JUDGE * MOUTHPIECE * QUICKSAND * Zack de la Rocha * RANCID * SAMIAM * SHELTER * SICK OF IT ALL * SNAPCASE * SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE and more! steventangent
I've read a few things written by Ronen Kauffman but I wasn't aware he had a book. I need to look into this, because he seems like a pretty good dude. This book also looks like it's well worth a read; I should add them to the pile. jhulud
I got this as soon as it came out through RevHQ. It's really good. The interviews are not your typical band/music interviews. I mean, they do touch on the music but Norman expands it even further and gets very personal with each subject. Do yourself a favor, and get it if you're a fan of 90's hardcore and punk. Well worth it.

oakland
The Anti-Matter book is great, as was the zine and the comp he put out. Some of those interviews are classics and the intro to the book is profound and a little hilarious.
jhulud
I was pleasently surprised that there was an interview with Rob Pennington of Endpoint (one of my favorite bands of all time)...It was quite good.
