rtw88
Look Mexico and the Format. However, I've gotten to see both of them play later when I did like them.
captainmorgan
The very first show I ever went to was a Bouncing Souls show. I didn't care for them at the time; I was there to see Tsunami Bomb who were supporting them. A couple years later the Souls would be my favorite band. kurtz
Fucked Up. I saw them in Jan. 2006, but I didn't really get into them until Hidden World came out.
drinker
So many, but 2 that quickly came to mind are Nada Surf and Anberlin

xjustinxschwierx
I saw Dillinger Four like 15 times before I finally got into em.
jayeffscene
mewithoutYou, Black Angels, Piebald, Biffy Clyro..all I can think of right now. That Piebald/ mewithoutYou tour was a weird lineup. Great show, though. Snake Cross Crown killed it when I saw it in Chicago.
311thrice
Motion City Soundtrack and A Static Lullaby. Both bands opened for Reggie and the Full Effect and Midtown about 5 years ago. I didn't like either of them...but now I love both.
patrick
The best live show I have seen from a band I did not like was No Fraud. Crazy live show with a singer who had a little suitcase of "props", ranging from dildos to porn mags to rubber bouncy balls. I remember several times a wrestling match break out during their set. Recorded, I could not stand them.
jhamm212
I remember I saw a Riverboat Gamblers set at Warped a couple years ago and despite the fact that the show itself was awesome, I didn't really dig the music. Now I wish I would have enjoyed that set more, seeing as I've gotten into the music.
scottheisel
I saw Ted Leo solo opening up for Alkaline Trio and Gods Reflex on my 18th birthday, and I hated him. My, how things would change once I heard The Tyranny Of Distance that following summer.
benchwarmer
saves the day opening for H2O, hated STD at the time, now I dig them.
pez
The Loved Ones, saw them right when Keep Your Heart came out with The Lawrence Arms and NOFX and didn't like them at all, then like 6 months later saw them open for Less Than Jake and loved them. desensitizedbyu
mewithoutYou, Black Angels, Piebald, Biffy Clyro..all I can think of right now. That Piebald/ mewithoutYou tour was a weird lineup. Great show, though. Snake Cross Crown killed it when I saw it in Chicago. It was weird, but yea, I liked it. The people who were there for mwY were like woah. In the song O, Porcupine when he says "Shhh... listen to it." Aaron paused and someone said something and their fans had a bitch-fit and practically screamed shhh in some guys face. I guess the fans ruined it for me more than the music. defanatic1758
I saw Killing the Dream open for Bane or Comeback Kid once in '05 or so... wasn't feeling it at the time. Now I realize they're better than either of those latter bands mentioned.

scotterson
definitely mewithoutyou, when they opened for anberlin in 04. they were entertaining, but when I gave [a->b] a solid listening to, i was amazed. when the snake the cross the crown opened for mwY the first time, late in 04, i had never heard of them, but was immediately blown away. they are absolutely one of my favorites
michael
off the top of my head... black lips open up for world/inferno (ironically now i love the black lips and no longer listen to inferno) the loved ones (it took me a while to get into them) bridge and tunnel (i had listened to their 7" once and wasn't blown away, but then i saw them live and was hooked)
