kirbypuckett
So I bought Warning from here the other day and it came in the mail today. It won't play on my turntable. It's too heavy I think, before I place the needle down I can hear it whirling a lot more than usual. When I put the needle on it sounds as if I'm playing it on a slow, slow speed. Anyone else have a problem like this? My table's not broken, because I just threw on Alkaline Trio's From Here to Infirmary and it sounds great and I also threw on the new Hives record which is 180-gram and it plays perfectly. It's not a great player by any means, Numark PT-01, but I've never had any problems before.

kirbypuckett
not their best record, anyway. You're right, it's their second best. Dookie wins by default, but I am the only avid fan of Warning that I know.

celebdeath
i like warning a lot. what you could do is rip the album to your computer, use a program like goldwave (free downloadable trial that lasts for AGES) to speed it up to the correct speed & then burn it to CD. i did this with a record i had that did exactly the same thing and it sorted it out. jordan
One time I put on Warning when I was pretty drunk and thought it sounded funny. Then I realized that I'd left the 45 adapter on. That's probably not your problem, though.
xxmartinxx
Does the record slide on the spindle easily? If not, you might want to try scraping the hole out a little. I've seen some turntables that the spindle stays stationary as the record spins around it.

No, I used to have a $100 Sony table that worked this way.
kirbypuckett
It fits on the spindle fine. I think it's the slip mat. For giggles I put my 45rpm adapter under the record and it spun a little better, not perfect. I guess the slip mat might be creating some unwanted friction.
