Which is your right but also separate from my point. Read swift cats first paragraph again, that's what my reply was directed towards.

Fair enough, but that opens up a conversation about consent or abuses of power structures which isn't what anyone ITT was being criticized for. These discussions are important and need to happen, but in a rational way. Users can comment on his prespective without implying that he's OK with child abuse. Hell, @copelandkidis straight up attempting to do the same shit to me because he does like my opinion even though I didn't say anything even remotely close to it. I like to think VC is above Facebook levels of pettiness (for the most part).

lmao it's not about "your opinion" or you personally in the slightest. i don't know you from Brand New's drum tech.

but now you're going out of your way (three comments and running) to downplay gross comments / indefensibly ignorant takes in this thread, and @-ing me to boot?? i tried to be diplomatic about it because it really isn't about you, used your catchy line about not tryna "stir up shit" too and i meant but yeah re-reading your original comment i can see how empty that sounds (even omitting the sarcastic shruggy ASCII).

also never commented on your views on the Lacey matter either way. just that it's a really cringe look to be bothsides-ing this kind of thing... agree to disagree i guess!

True, we'll have to wait for his reply to see if he seriously thinks that way or worded it wrong. Andrew is just creepy though he clearly understands the situation and feels the need to emote and provoke the haters.

How are you gonna create a position I didn't take, criticize me on it, then act like I'm overeacting? You literally said "rationalize realllllly suspect comments on child abuse and not to, ya know, condemn them."

I'll be damned if you're gonna say shit like this about me and think I'm just gonna be chill about it. Fuck outta here with that.

Gonna throw myself under the bus (like I always seem to do) and say that I agree with swiftcat to an extent. The girl/girls made the decision to talk to him and send nudes and shit. It was a conscious decision and then later they decided to make it into them being a victim. Yeah they were 15/16 or whatever “supposedly” but in a lot of other countries you’re considered old enough to know right from wrong and be held accountable for your own actions.
I honestly don’t think that girl was traumatized by anything. I remember thinking she sounded like she was exaggerating when I read her statement a few years ago. She wanted attention. I’m not saying she wasn’t possibly legit bothered by it now that she’s an adult, I just think she blew it up into a bigger thing than it needed to be.
We all know people are fucking crazy sometimes and just want attention.

Just my thoughts on it. Not facts. Now.... start making leaps and attacking me for everything I said. Go! 😂

Me and you think alike

The age of consent varies by state in America from 16-18.

MANY other countries it's 14.

I just read a article from a long time ago, and she said he manipulated her to watch him masterbate  through Skype.

Sounds bad at first, but how the hell to you get manipulated to do that?

She probably liked him, he probably quit liking her and now she's crying about it. I can speculate a lot more.

I'mnot really into that whole metoo movement. If it's a issue go to the police immediately, stop doing these sex acts to get ahead. The way I see it, their wasn't crime that happened for over 3 years and now it matters?

also I do hate the idea of what happened but calling it manipulated is really reaching.

i think they were really reaching for something else cause it's probably what they thought they wanted.

I wish sad bands and rock musicians were more professional and made better decisions but if they were they'd probably be in a Christian band hiding it better. Lmao

side note: I don't condone the things that were done, Jesse sounds pretty fucked up tbh

Sucks to see talent go to waste

At the end of the day chris brown is still successful and has a flourishing career, and in my opinion hes done worse. I don't know the allegations definitely made me look at Jesse in a different way but I still like most of their discography. Still like Roseanne too 🤷🏻‍♂️

At the end of the day some people can separate the art from the artist, and some can't. I just think its ridiculous when people freak out about it. Someone listening to something you don't like doesn't affect your life at all, and it doesn't make you a good person shaming them for it. You just come off as a holier than thou cunt.

The age of consent may vary by state, but sending pornographic material to a minor and child pornography laws don't, which is part of the issue here.

There was definitely a crime committed. Just because it wasn't reported immediately by a minor, a child in the eyes of the law, because they thought what was happening was ok at the time makes no difference.

Wow. I hate to use this argument because it really shouldn't matter, but say you had a kid, or a young sister who had this happen with them. You wouldn't take issue with it just because "they wanted it?" You're coming off as super scummy, dude. What if he was doing this to 10 years olds, but "they wanted it?" would you be ok with it then? If not, why are you ok with it happening to someone slightly older even though it's still illegal?

Sounds like you do condone what happened from everything you said, which is why everyone coming at you is having such an issue.

I just consider my self educated. Their was a time where parents sold their daughters to a man for money, no I would not be ok with it at age 10. I just believe people create their own path and and if a girl wants to allow things then it's also her fault. It's not like he lived with these girls and they were trapped at his house.

I'm not defending him, I'm defending the logic of these accusations.

Also i don't have to picture it happening to my kids cause I'm not having any. I love my kids enough to not have them, I've accepted that this world is crap and is also quite meaningless.

Putting the law aside sending the pics and stuff..  if a girl is doing that she's probably already looked at porn so being realistic it about it, why did she hit the send button? What made her?

Most girls tell people they are 18 and really they aren't and apparently sick lead singers can break child laws

Maybe at age 10 start teaching boys and girls values? Instead of the do anything you have to, to get what you want mentality..

I hate to tell you this, but these things still happen.

Besides the point, and why I mentioned so many different people beyond "your" kids. Empathy, dude.

You can't just put the law aside though. What happened was illegal. But the reason they hit send was because they were young, didn't understand the consequences of what they were doing, and were manipulated by an adult man who took advantage of them.

This ^^ is the part I don't think you're getting. When you were a young teen, did no one ever trick you into doing something you regretted? Not even sexually , just in general.  It happened because they're young and their brains aren't those of adults yet. That's why the laws exist. They do stupid impulsive things.

That last bit leads me to believe maybe you've got some skeletons in your closet.

You should teach. Your way of elaborating and explaining to the ignorant is spot on.
