That's right friends, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground have wrapped up recording the follow-up to their breakthrough self-titled album. Not only that, but the band has decided to stream the entire album on their Myspace page http://www.myspace.com/kaykayunderground for all to enjoy this Friday, August 14th. Kirk wrote the following on their Myspace blog:

through triumph and tragedy we are pleased to announce that our new record is done!

we are still developing the release schedule, but since we all collectively feel like big stinky ass-holes for leaving all of you waiting for such an extended period of time to hear everything, we've decided to stream the whole damn record come friday right here on the old myspace page.

Not only does the band explain wanting to share it with their fans first, they posted the track listing and full lyrics to the upcoming album. Read the entire blog post here http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=122905195&blogId=504842044

The band and management are in talks with labels; as the dust settles, we are hopeful that Suburban Home will be involved in some way. Please help spread the word about the new album and be sure to visit the band's myspace on Friday. I have been listening and I think minds are gonna be blown.

In other Kay Kay news, the band will be performing at Tom Pfaeffle's memorial August 13th @ The Moore Theatre in Seattle. More info about the memorial can be found here http://pinkonvinyl.com/tom-pfaeffle/

If you missed out on Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground's self-titled album, listen to a full album stream here http://www.suburbanhomerecords.com/releases/kay-kay-and-his-weathered-underground-st-dbl-lp/

This is gonna be a way off release then? If they're shopping it to labels? What happened to their fuck the industry stance?

they are still pretty cynical about the industry, but if someone is willing to give them money so that they can do this more full time, I think they would be down. It is hard to get 14 people out on the road. That said, they are pretty certain a bigger label won't want to be involved and if that is teh case, we will be working with them again.

Oh is it on myspace? For some reason I thought Suburban Home was hosting the stream.

I should have suggested it, listening to albums on myspace sucks big time. Luckily i have the tracks. I might see if they would rather put it in one of our streaming audio players.

That'd be awesome, since the songs I listened sounded like crap (I hate you california sounded so bad on the second part) on myspace, which streams at 96kbps 22khz.

I asked the band and they said that they are waiting on word from their manager. If it works out, we might be able to post it next week. I agree, Myspace sucks
