mattisr1984
everyone should read the article posted at this link. it was written by an ex-VP of victory records. ill admit its lengthy, but very interesting. tony brummel sounds insane. http://board.vivalavinyl.org/?func=topic&id=26643&r=
beef
That was a little sensationalist and hard to read at times, but it backed up a lot of things I had heard about Brummel over the years, like the Hawthorne Heights "manifesto" being posted on some news site, and I've even seen those infomercials with music videos on fuse. Overall thats pretty sickening and scary, I feel a little dirty, the man seems to have no bounds.
dim
I always knew that label was crooked as shit
benchwarmer
I remember reading an e-mail about moving Hawthorne Heights albums in front of Ne-Yo's, and there was nothing about it that had a humorous undertone.I've also heard some disturbing stuff from a friend of Thursday about how Tony fucked them over financially. Just look at this picture and tell me how this guy is not a douche bag. - Jeff "it is your record label, but I worked hard and didn't get any help so I'm awesome and you're not, fuck you, I'm a little elf." dim
It's interesting, after I read the article and looked at the picture of him, it's exactly what I imagined he'd look like.

mattisr1984
ill admit theres some stuff in there that doesnt belong in the article (like his rock star theory, the apocalypse now quotes, or the mentioning that tony doesnt own a bulldog), but at the core of whats written--which is the accused insanity of tony brummel... its pretty damn interesting and not at all suprising. everyones been hearing it for years--this just reaffirms it. i know theres two sides to every story but it seems to me you really cant make this stuff up and thats whats scary. its too bad he even still has a few decent bands left. Guest Admin
I just posted something in my blog (www.indiehq.com) about this rant. It honestly turns my stomach to read this. I have always ran my label by treating people the way I want to be treated (that is probably why my label is so small). It is scary to know that there are people like this out there and to know that they have such a heavy hand in indie music.
Guest conoley
I'm not a fan of Victory, but that was a tough read. Someone needs an editor...

steventangent
Yeah. Victory has put out some incredible stuff over the years, and still has some pretty sweet bands (I'm a fan of BTBAM especially). I don't want to give them any money, though.

oakland
That's one of the stupidest things I've ever read. Self-important, overly dramatic garbage. Fuck the internet (sometimes).
