Guessing:

Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

Bright Eyes - Cassadaga

Dan Deacon - Spiderman of the Rings

Every Time I Die - The Big Dirty

Minus the Bear - Planet of Ice

Underoath - Define the Great Line

The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

They just stand out to me when I think of full albums I've listened to dozens of times in 2007. I'm probably forgetting a lot.

According to the handy-dandy rolling charts on last.fm, my most listened-to albums this year have been (in no order):

Smoke or Fire – This Sinking Ship

Modest Mouse – We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank

Dear and the Headlights – Small Steps, Heavy Hooves

The Gaslight Anthem – Sink Or Swim

Bad Religion – New Maps Of Hell

Olympia – Emergencies

Hot Rod Circuit – The Underground Is A Dying Breed

The Cribs – Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever

This is kind of unusual, because only one (maybe two) of those records I actually think will make my Top 20 of '07 list (Dear And The Headlights for sure; the Cribs possibly).

You could say that about so many bands though. I agree, awful name, but think about a lot of bands you listen to or you read about. Not everyone can be "Minus the Bear." Which is really only awesome if you know the story:

Before they got their name, the guys were sitting around when one of the members came home from a date. One of the guys asked the guy who went on the date how it went. He replies:

"You know that show BJ and the Bear? It was like that, minus the bear."

:)
