YouTube video ripping/downloading help

Recommended Posts

I would like to put a few YouTube videos in a presentation I am working on. But where it is going to be at doesn't have internet access. So I need to find a good, virus free way to rip and download them.

I tried for awhile last night and all Google could come up with were questionable looking sites. The one or two I did try downloaded the audio but no video.

Any help/suggestions would be awesome!

Download the newest RealPlayer. It comes with RealPlayer Converter (I think... maybe it's a separate thing?) but it's so easy. Just about any video you can find on the internet outside of copyright protected stuff (ie Daily Show episodes on thedailyshow.com or something like that) is easily downloaded with one click. I used it to make a video for a class.

Edit: RealPlayer SP is the version I have.

if you use safari (on mac, maybe also on pc)... go to the youtube page, start playing the video and pause it (or let it play, doesn't matter). In safari go to Window -> Activity. It helps if youtube is the only window open. find the biggest file (should show how much it has downloaded, so the numbers will be moving). double click and the file will either start downloading or open up in a new window. if it opens in a new window, you probably have to make a link to it, then right click and "save target as".

whola!

no stupid software needed.

If you use ad-block plus, just play the video and open all the blockable objects. The low quality ones end in .flv, and the high quality ones are .mp4.
