ivoryplum
They just sent out a song off their new album for those who pre-ordered: http://listen.grooveshark.com/s/You+Are+A+Tourist/3Deyy4?src=5 If you ask me, based off this song (which I like), the album is starting to sound very promising. davehouse
...and even though they were originally on Barsuk, I'd have thought for them to still have vinyl rights on all the Atlantic albums must involve a fair amount of licencing money that has to be reflected in the cost. Count yourselves lucky, for the UK the wholesale price is getting on for £14 ($22) so stores will be selling for at least £23-25 ($40!) OUCH Either way, I have to have it! gmoney
Gonna wait until I can get this and 'Strange Negotiations' from Barsuk at the same time since they release within a week of each other.
swsander
Well, since the digital download sells for $10 (which is included with the vinyl), it's almost like paying $15 for the vinyl and $10 for the download (pretty justifiable)
gmoney
Welp - only $19.68 from Amazon. Probably not gonna get cheaper than that (with free shipping). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XD03PC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=kersjour-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399349&creativeASIN=B004XD03PC

seamoney
First impression: The songs are great, but the track order is off. The album doesn't pick up till track 7, which is unusual for this band.
Fartcat
I dig it so far.

OUCH Either way, I have to have it! I'd be willing to bet that they have an arrangement worked out in their contract that lets Barsuk handle their vinyl releases. Especially considering they signed with Atlantic in 2004, well before vinyl became something that majors could look at as a big money maker. bill
I quite like this band but everytime I listen to them I feel like a little part of my masculinity dies.
somethingvinyl
I heard "You Are A Tourist" on Jimmy Fallon last week and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think Narrow Stairs was all that great so I thought this band was becoming a band that had seen their peek of progression. But who knows? chutterhanban
Black is a color. au contraire. ask your artsy friends.
mcm1610
There's two schools of thought on that, right? In science it's the absence of color. In art it's all color. Or something. Hey look, a birdie!
mdb
I like the music pretty well but Gibbard's lyrics are so damn didactic I can hardly stand it. Of all the Death Cab components, I never thought the lyrics would be the let down.
mattisr1984
yeah, theres something not settling well with me on this album and i even liked narrow stairs / open door which a lot of people didnt it seems.

jetsfan4ever80
Just picked up the vinyl from a local record store, and it's a pretty nice gatefold 2xLP. What I'm kind of upset about is it didn't come with a download card. From a band as big as Death Cab, not having a download card seems kind of ridiculous. I've only listened to the album two times, but so far it's a minor let-down, but I think there is definitely room for it to grow on me.
