Manchester Orchestra | Like A Virgin Losing a Child | Black (signed by Chris, Jeremiah, and Robert from 2008 when they were good)

:o What?! You don't like Mean Everything or Simple Math? That shit's awesome. And I fully understand why you don't have andy's sig...that dude takes his sweet time after shows.

Andy is a D bag

I liked METN, but Simple Math is terrrriiibbbllleeee. I'm sorry, man, but that shit's way too goddamn polished and, to me, it sounds as if they're trying to play to a demographic, if you understand what I mean by that.

Also, Andy Hull has been a douche since METN came out. Honestly, I wish Chris would leave the band because he's still such a good person and hasn't let this shit get to his head.

I don't have a problemo with those who like the new MO, but I've got my personal biases haha

The only thing I had him sign (besides that MO/Annuals split 7") was Kevin Devine's t-shirt (that I'll never wear haha) when he toured as Right Away Great Captain (even though he doesn't do RAGC songs). That was in 2007, and probably the last time I had respect for Andy. Kevin, on the other hand, will be the greatest person in the fucking world. BAM.

I can't really say anything about the being a D bag or things going to his head, b/c I only met him once. Although it did take over an hour to wait for him (two different times--I had to bail early the first time), he had a real conversation with everyone waiting for him. He spent at least 5 minutes talking to every person out there, unlike most frontmen, who just sign the shit and leave. He seemed nice then, but I have heard an anecdote through a friend of a friend that some people/person representing manchester orch was an ass in a business deal involving web design...anyway, I totally agree that Kevin is the shit. I still only half like his recorded stuff, but I went to the bad books (ish) tour with andy and kevin, and andy just plays weird boring shit solo, but Kevin's show was fucking awesome. I wasn't even going for him, but he won me over for sure.

And yes, I think Simple Math is great. And when I saw them live recently, that was probably one of my top 5 favorite shows ever.

Yeah man, he was a legiiiiiit dude before METN. One of the coolest things he had done was take a picture of My buddy Gabe's sleeve (midatlanticmauler on these boards, wutup) and sent it to Vinny of Brand New. That was after talking with him for about an hour after that solo tour with KD and Owen.

Ohhhh I went to the Bad Books show too haha. That would be the last time I'll see Andy play.

And I'm glad you got turned onto KD. Such a fucking genuine dude, onstage and offstage.

Yeah, K dev is growing on me the more I listen. and I assume you mean a full sleeve tattoo? Did it have some BN lyrics on it or something?

I don't understand talking to band members for an hour...If I spend more than 5 minutes talking to them, I just end up feeling awkward b/c Idk if they're putting on a face or not...I don't want to be that fanboy who makes them feel obligated to hang out forever. ha...not saying you are, just that that's how I feel.

No BN lyrics, just a badass sleeve with dicks and balls everywhere, you know, the norm. haha jk Gabe

Anyone's going to feel like a 'fanboy' to a dude who acts like he's onstage, higher than everyone else at all times. But back then we all stood around and shared dumbass stories and asked questions about side projects or ideas.

At MO shows, everytime I would run into Chris Freeman (which won't happen anymore haha), we usually exchange new bands for each other to listen to -- he has a fucking awesome collection of random shit haha.

Find something else to talk about that's different than what they always hear.

And speaking of side projects, Andy did say that after the books tour that he was going to meet up with some BN members (not jesse), and depending on how things went, there might be a collab. And he also said this in an interview recently.

Well, I kind of feel like that with everybody. Except for La Dispute's guitarist (blanking on name atm...kevin?). He immediately came off as a total dork, which was def. cool in my book, if that makes any sense...ha...

And the last time I saw MO, Chris was just walking around bare foot everywhere. Before the show, immediately after, whenever, whatever.

Hahaha yeah those dudes are legit, I'm sure. They're way too nerdy to not be chill to talk to before or after a show haha.

And this side project you speak of doesn't excite me haha...I'm honestly nervous about it. Also, after seeing Brand New play last month, I really hope they stop touring because the crowd's getting worse and worse. I've never seen so many guidos punching girls while Soco was playing.

Pretty sad.

But Jesse, in my book, is still a genuine dude from past and present experiences. But if BN is brought up anymore in this thread, then all hell will break loose haha

Well, that means free bumps for you, right? And yes, I've only seen them once on the Daisy tour, and the crowd and show were not that great, tbh. But I'll still seem them, nonetheless. And if you want them to stop touring, they practically never tour anyway. If I'm correct, they went on one tour in support of Daisy, and since they've only done those random five dates in PA.

And yes, I hate the crowds with popular bands...seeing MO it sucked too...have to block out the drunk people, as well as all the people that you only hear from when they play "I've got friends." (Or the deja singles, in BN's case.) I loved seeing dispute...either had people hanging out in the back out of the way, or people in the front singing/yelling every word.

Yeah man we saw BN play on some suuuper religious college campus. ...I'm assuming Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band couldn't play there for a reason haha...but they did play Jesus Christ and start laughing on stage haha

Yeah I'm super fucking pissed I missed La Dispute/Defeater/Native a couple weeks ago! But they'll be around again and again. Brilliant dudes, I must say.

Oh, was that that really recent BN show? I debated on driving out to that, but figured it would be a sucky crowd, short set, and a shitload of gas money. I'm expecting a Fall tour, just hoping I don't have to skip class for it.

And yeah, had to drive 2 hours+ to see dispute. Was my first time, met everyone and got my copy of somewhere signed. It was a shame, though...some girl passed out at the last song, and the whole crowd stopped to rubberneck, so no one yelled for an encore, so no encore. -.- It was new storms for older lovers, too...really wanted to see that live. But you're right, there'll be a "next time around" for them for quite a few years, I hope.
