nick6ten
I really wish it would have gotten one too. There were so many interesting things in that book that could have been expanded on. All this Chuck talked has swayed me to start Doomed tonight. I'll report back with thoughts when I'm finished, which should be in three or four days. I just saw this a few minutes ago. http://chuckpalahniuk.net/news/what-we-know-about-the-rant-sequel "Argh! The Rant question comes back! I've written the second book, but I'm such a compulsive nut-job that I'm still looking for a non-fiction form to use as a structure. I know, I know, I'm stuck on structural gimmicks, but experiments like that are important to me." I've picked up Doomed, but I'll probably be a little while before I get to it. I'm currently reading The Fifth Assassin by Brad Meltzer On my shelf to read I have The Casual Vacancy - JK Rowling Lexicon - Max Barry S - JJ Abrams The Cuckoo's Calling - JK Rowling as Robert Galbraith I'll probably read Lexicon and S before Doomed. deafening

I'm cautiously optimistic about it. I'm not sure what I'm going to read next, I have no shortage of books right now. I'm thinking Bukowski's Factotum. deafening

ronniegwilliams
Just picked up The Dark History of the Popes, pretty stoked to read all the fucked up shit that's happened through the history of Catholicism. Also, lots and lots of short stories in my writing classes.
mcm1610
Took a trip to The Book Thing Of Baltimore. It was a little sketchy at first but once you got inside and started finding books you liked, it was pretty rad. There were books upon books in there. It wasn't really organized except for genres (somewhat) so it was really fun to dig through and find some gems. Found a bunch of books from 1902 which was cool. Overall, went in with the hopes of finding 5 or so books I'd want and left with 40. All completely free and in great condition. Some of them were newer ones which was really shocking to see. I suggest anyone in the Baltimore area check it out. The bummer is that it's only open on the weekends Since I definitely want to go back, would anyone be interested in like a surprise book box? Basically, you tell me a genre you like and I'll try to fill a box with them. All you'd have to do is pay for shipping. I'm not sure how heavy books are but I'd say it'd be under $20 for shipping depending on the type. Mystery/thrillers will obviously weigh a shit ton less than hardback 1920 history books. Either way, I'd make sure there was a bunch in there. If this is a dumb idea, let me know and I'll edit this part out. Aw man. If you ever wandered across any old economics books (I know, I'm a nerd), I would love you. Like copies of anything by Keynes, Adam Smith, Hayek, Ricardo, Malthus. After that, French or German novels from the second half of the 1800s have been fascinating me lately. Preferably in English, since that's the only language I can actually read in, but if it's cheap to ship I would take whatever. I'd send you a little money for your trouble on top of the shipping, but it would all be bonus if you looked, I certainly wouldn't expect you to do so and be disappointed if you didn't. I'm going to finish Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises tonight or tomorrow, depending upon how busy I am at work. So far I'm really enjoying it. deafening
I read a ton, so if you need suggestions let me know. I'm always open to suggestions! I have so many books I need to read. Just from what I can see on my shelf right now, I have a couple of Christopher Moore novels, Crazy for the Storm, The Kite Runner, Running with Scissors, This Book is Full of Spiders, a David Sedaris book, and I'm sure there's more I can't see from where I'm sitting. I'm a little skeptical about Kite Runner & Running with Scissors. Books that get so much hype that end up disappointing. Oh well, they were cheap. radiatorhums
You can't go wrong with Christopher Moore! Looks like you have plenty to read without any suggestions. Have you read much Steinbeck? I really like The Winter of Our Discontent and To A God Unknown (two of his lesser known works). I haven't. My reading choices don't usually dive that far back, but I'm hoping to change that. I'll grab one oft those and put it on my 'to read' pile. andy.
Hey VC, I need some help! Anyone here happen to have a copy of either of the following: Series of Unfortunate Events #9 - hardback I finally got #6 today so this is the last of the series. So far I've gotten the entire series for under $20 which is rad. Harry Potter and the Wizard Stuff #2 - hardback The copy I have is shorter than the other books which is weird. I'm looking for a normal height version? If that makes sense. I can trade some books in return.

Bladew1ll1s1sdead
Also, I read You Suck before I read Bloodsucking Fiends on accident. Still enjoying BF a ton. Next up is Maze Runner and TFIOS.

Well ain't that some shit For some reason it's really hard to find #9. I always end up finding like 5 copies of 1-4. I guess people read the first ones and then don't feel like continuing the series thus they later ones don't end up at Goodwill.
Family Friendly Rap God
Currently starting the first Game of Thrones book and I just finished Sycamore Row by John Grisham
8ight
I finished reading In the Garden of Beasts the other day. Not the type of book I usually pick up, but not bad. And a bit insightful seeing as I knew little-to-nothing about Hitler-era Germany. I have a sample of High Fidelity right now. I started it, but I'm not sure I'm really feeling it for right now... I might just pick up Animal Farm again as I haven't read it since high school. And back then I didn't really enjoy reading, so I half-assed/didn't read it. Or, anyone have good "mob" book recommendations? I've read most of Mario Puzo's books, Wiseguy, Joe Bonanno's autobiography, and Takedown. I like the movie, Casino, so I might grab that book. Or on a completely different note, I've never watched Star Wars or Star Trek, but I think I'd actually be into that kinda stuff. Just, I don't like watching TV/movies. So, are any of the books worth reading, or maybe something similar?
deafening
Also, I read You Suck before I read Bloodsucking Fiends on accident. I did the same fucking thing. I still haven't read BF but You Suck wasn't that great to me.

deafening
YES. A Dirty Job is amazing. Coyote Blue is hilarious and Fool was pretty entertaining as well. Christopher Moore is awesome, I just found myself getting bored with YS.
