The official B-side/rarity/demo MP3-sharing thread

Recommended Posts

I know there are some Rx Bandits fans here -- anyone interested in the original version of "Those Damn Bandits"? I'm not sure if it's different from the one that was released on Drive-Thru, as I've never heard that version (Also -- is this cool to upload? I think it's been OOP for awhile.)

I'll also try to find their demo tape... can't remember where I put it.

Here's both of Bella Lea's three-song demos in one rar file -- this was Maura Davis from Denali's new band; they sold each of these demos on their first and second-ever tours respectively. They later changed their name to Ambulette, then broke up last year:

Ultrafink - Carbotrolly

http://www.mediafire.com/?azlbmy0m1lu

Okay, so none of you have ever heard of this band, but they were an absolutely incredible pop-punk/rock band from St. Louis. This was their only full-length, I believe; it came out in 96/97. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I think had they slugged it out for a few more years, they could've easily been quite huge (seriously, download this record, listen to some of their more radio-friendly songs like "Shooting Star" and tell me that wouldn't have blown up).

Anyway, the most interesting tidbit of information about Ultrafink is some of the band moved to Los Angeles upon their breakup and started none other than butt-rock douchebags Bullets N Octane. Currently, their drummer (Ty Smith, who was also in Guttermouth) and their bassist (Brent Claswon) are in BNO.

Oh, the best part is, Ultrafink's old guitarist, Chuck, found me on myspace and wrote me the following:

as far as bullets and octane go, they were writing right when my band, halfway home, was breaking up last year. i got together with the singer and just played some cheesy guns n' roses type guitar licks for him to get some ideas rolling. the idea was that i would help them write some stuff, since all they were coming up with was pretty lame. needless to say, they went ahead and used those riffs (in really bad songs) and never returned a call or anything. i figured i could sue them if they got big, but i don't think they're going to sell enough records to make it worth it. i don't know though, i really don't know what they've sold though. that record blows.

Anyway, I've written far too much. But I urge all of you to download this, because it's really an unheard pop-punk gem.

That's something I still feel uneasy about sharing, just because I don't know if the band have any plans to release it posthumously. I should email them and ask.

Bear Vs Shark - 1653 EP (aka their demo)

http://www.mediafire.com/?zjkhpbyjinf

I dunno if this was ever officially for sale; I just remember the band's website having it available for download waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day (definitely before Terrorhawk came out). It has four songs that got re-recorded for Right Now, You're In The Best Of Hands... and four exclusive to this demo.

Spitalfield - Pre-production demos for Stop Doing Bad Things

http://www.mediafire.com/?wg5f4bm2tnm

There's no vocals on these, but three of the tracks ended up not making the actual record. I got these completely by accident; the band stayed at my house a few years back, and their bass player at the time loaded them onto his iPod through my iTunes, but never told me about them; I just randomly stumbled across them one day.

Yeah, I understand if that's the case. But if you happen to find out it'll never see the light of day, I'd really like to hear it.
