Seems like a good deal. Are the records after Room On Fire any good? That and This Is It are the only two I paid attention to.

They're good if you just look at the album for what it is and not try to compare it to older works. They each have a different/expanded sound, but have a couple of throwback tracks to please everyone.

At this price, definitely worth it.

I really liked the first record for its more Television/Velvets sound and the second one for the the more wirey new wave Talking Heads sounding stuff they were doing. By expanded sound, is that code for them getting more radio friendly? I remember seeing the Julian Casablancas solo box set awhile back and thinking it was a bit indulgent.

The opposite, really. I think the latter two albums are harder to get into, definitely if you weren't a Strokes fan prior. They went from sticking with a same/themed sound throughout an album to experimenting with new directions within a single album. Not to say their latter albums are total departures of older material, they still remained The Strokes, just combined the sound of the first and second albums as any band naturally would.

Basically, even if you don't know the order in which each album was released, you can listen to them and figure it out easily because of the progression and growth in sounds.
