This makes a lot of sense to me but how come they didn't just do cd's? in a lot of impoverished nations in central and western Europe, cassettes are the standard form of music because they're so cheap, the technology was co-opted because of the low cost and availability. Back when Fourth Rotor was touring they'd tell me that the Euro shows would be the equivalent of a dollar or two to get in, but most people wouldn't be able to afford that, let a lone merch, and would just hang outside the venue and listen. All anyone asked for was tapes, so the second euro tour they went and bought a tape deck and dubbed cassettes in the van and gave them away.
