batman Posted September 2, 2012 Share Posted September 2, 2012 I know "we" all buy a lot from HT at that time but I doubt they time their vinyl releases accordingly, considering the ratio of vinyl inventory to shirts, pants, face paint, tongue studs, stickers, candy, and novelty items you see in the store and online. true, but it's a business. i know it depends on when the record is ready, but doesn't travis ultimately dictate when releases like that go up for sale? from a business standpoint, it wouldn't make very much sense to put it up at a time when everyone here is getting it for basically 50% off--without previous purchases to get the promo codes legitimately--rather than to wait until that promotion has ended. i know HT sells a lot of other items, but this is a vinyl message board, and i don't know of any other place that abuses the HT cash system like i've seen here (not that its a bad thing). so if a highly sought after record is to be released, and will likely sell out very quickly, it wouldn't make sense to sell it at a discounted rate--assuming all 1500 copies sold at $19.99 or at $15 off of $30, so basically $9.99, that's a $15,000 difference (i know not everyone would use a coupon code etc). either way, i'd wait an extra week. My guess is that they would be up for sale some time next week. These aren't timed to release during or not during any particular promotion, when we get them in they get sent to stores/put up for sale online. I dont expect these to sell out instantly but who knows. Some of them will be going to stores, I'll post a list of stores getting them as soon as I can. He literally purchases the items for HT that we - in turn - purchase at a retail cost. He is NOT: - a shipping specialist - an IT personel, responsible for any e-commerce issues (I.e. when an item shows up online, shipping costs, etc.) - a customer service representative He is a fellow collector who has the ability to hook us up with the inside scoop for certain releases. He could just as easily stop letting us know when certain LPs are coming...because that is also not likely a part of his job! Untwist your panties, and buy it when it's available! When in truth, he works to get certain releases rolling [either as a repress, or for the first time ever on vinyl], has a say in variants and packaging, and obviously influences the amount to be pressed. I'm not disagreeing that he's buying vinyl; I just think that there are technically a few more aspects in his line of work that are worth noting. With that being said, HT exclusives make up a small portion of the vinyl that is available online and in stores as well. Basically, I just want everyone to stop yelling at someone for something that is far beyond their control. Just let the man do whatever it is that he is paid to do, and be gracious that we get any sort of an inside scoop. I - for one - am thankful for the advance notice!
