maintreqd
so along with upgrading my setup soon i'm looking into killing static buildup and trying to protect my records a bit more in general. i love these MoFi "Original Master Sleeves" that a few of my LPs came with, and i'm thinking about resleeving my entire collection - but that is pricey, at least with the MoFi sleeves. has anyone tried these from bags unlimited? Are they the same thing or is MoFi's product way better? http://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-3095-12-inner-record-sleevesa-idrsa.aspx#ratings They're half the price of the MoFi's but I don't want necessarily want to cut corners if they're not nearly as good. MoFi's on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LQSFKY/ref=s9_simh_gw_p267_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0JRF5NDD2VPP3CY0R3JG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 any thoughts or suggestions? nothingnatural
I've been using these for well over a decade. https://www.squaredealonline.com/a.asp?s=7q I like them because they stand up nicely because of the paper outside. I got some free samples of these and am considering using them in the future but they're damn expensive: http://www.sleevecityusa.com/Diskeeper-Ultimate-Audiophile-Inner-Sleeve-p/312nlps.htm SquareDealOnline
jared
I've been using Mo-fi sleeves for quite awhile now and while they are certainly pricey - they do feel great and fit in pretty much any jacket with ease. If you buy more than one package of them from elusivedisc they become 17.99 as opposed to the 19.99 eddieruckus

mrrom92
There have been a few new brands making similar product, I don't have any experience with them so I don't know how they compare. But the MOFI sleeves have been pretty much unbeatable since they came out 30something years ago. Your records are an investment, I put my most valuable and treasured ones in MOFI sleeves. I do however wish someone would make a sleeve similar to the MOFI but with the rice paper on both sides. It just seems to me like it would offer the disc much better protection. JimmyBOD
These: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V4OSMQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 If you dig the poly-lined paper sleeves (they're a must in my opinion) and you're on a budget, you can't beat these. I ordered them for the first time a few months back and, although I was a little apprehensive because of some negative reviews, I was completely satisfied with them. I strongly recommend them if you're looking to save some cash. heypeterman
Figured I may as well tag along in this thread for my question: Eventually, I'll be replacing all my inner sleeves will some form of poly sleeve but currently I don't use any outer sleeve. The main reason is my wife gets annoyed having to pull a record out of multiple sleeves. And she's usually handling records when she's had a couple of drinks, ugh! Anyways, a co-worker mentioned that she uses a standard outer sleeve, takes the record (in the sleeve) out of the jacket and puts it on the outside of the jacket but inside the outer poly sleeve. Does that make sense? I can see how this could save on having to pull the record out of the jacket and only out of the outer poly sleeve but I worry that that may be a lot of extra pressure on the jacket and bend the outer edges. Does anyone else do this? Other than that, I was thinking of leaving the records in the jacket then having the outer sleeve opening face backwards so you don't have to take the outer sleeve off to access the records. Suggestions? Oh, I use an expedit for storage like most vinyl lovers.
andrewlucas
So what are bad sleeves? Like regular paper? Sorry if its a dumb question, I'm still learning things about records. There's a lot more to it than I thought.
circuit bored records
Regular paper sleeves can scratch vinyl when removing/inserting the disc, so yes poly sleeves and poly-lined paper sleeves are much better andrewlucas

Oh, I use an expedit for storage like most vinyl lovers. i do this with records i listen to more frequently. disc in sleeve outside of jacket, sleeve opening facing upward, jacket opening facing to the right. I can store the records upright with the spines showing and access and replace the disc from the sleeve easily. ive heard that this is hard on the jackets over time and i could see that, and it takes up more space as well

karloffsidekick
i really like the 5.0's.. but to each his own. I concur…Sleeve City's 5.0, to me, are the Cadillac of outer sleeves. Plus they're alot clearer than others so the vividness of album covers and spines really pops when displayed. Been slowly resleeving the entire collection over the past two years. Just ordered some 3ml from bagsunlimited that I've always used but have always wanted something with better clarity. Might have to make the change soon.
