The Belko Experiment was ok. Solid middle of the road B-movie. Could have been so much better. Not funny enough and not gory enough. Not a terrible way to get high and kill 90 minutes though.

It was just too...straight forward I guess. Probably would have been more fun if Gunn had directed it back 6-7 years ago when he wrote it.

this 100%

Watched 13 Cameras tonight and mostly liked it a lot.  Has an awesome creepiness to it and a very good final 20-25 minutes.  The biggest issue is that material between the main couple is sooooooo boring and cliche and poorly done.  Makes it really hard to give any shits about them.  I think that's really what kept it from being a great movie.  I'd still strongly recommend it even with that major flaw though.

Watched it this weekend, not bad. the ending was pretty cool. Last night we watched "Curve" with Juiliana Hough and the dude who plays jay Garrick on the Flash, was surprisingly a decent thriller, id recommend it.

Watched a few yesterday.

Another Evil - I enjoyed it a fair amount, but I'd have trouble recommending it to most people.  It's more of a mumblecore-ish comedy with supernatural elements, not really a flat out horror movie.  It takes a pretty big tonal shift in the third act and it doesn't feel like a natural progression.

The Lesson - This missed for me almost entirely.  Was a little more 'torture porn' than I was expecting and that doesn't particularly interest me.  There are some cool shots and the general idea behind it was good, but that's about all I took from it.

Watched The Bad Batch last night.  I don't necessarily agree with KingTacoMonster that it didn't know what it wanted to be, but I will agree that it was not a very good movie.  It's strengths were that it built a fairly interesting world, looked gorgeous and that the first 20-30 minutes were pretty damn good.  The weakest part is that it had enough story for maybe a 70 minute movie, not a 2 hour one.  Due to that, it just moves so goddamn slow.  Real big swing and a miss with this one.

Watched the original Funny Games the other day. Not exactly horror, but I think it still counts. God damn some of the long takes are excruciating.

I hadn't seen the original when I saw the remake in theaters like 10 years ago.  The title card smash with Naked City kicking in is one of my favorite things ever. I remember being in the theater like "What the fuck...is that Naked City? Holy shit."

I know the director has said a lot about his intentions, but it still feels like a very self aware/post modern horror flick. The characters make the obviously worst choice at every step. My girlfriend and I have both seen it multiple times (both versions) and we were still practically yelling at the screen.

When they throw the woman over the side of the boat at the end always gives me chills. That's seriously fucked up and just the way the sequence is shot is fucking brutal.

I've been meaning to watch both over the course of a weekend, but haven't had a chance yet.

It's definitely a film I'd qualify as "kind of an ordeal." Not quite on the level of something like Eraserhead, Irreversible, or Enter the Void, but definitely not not for casual viewing.

I had time to watch The Barn yesterday afternoon and found it quite fun.  Not a great movie by any stretch, but if you enjoy 80s style slasher / monster movies, it's an enjoyable 90 minutes.  All practical effects and I think they did a real good job capturing the feel of what they were going for.  The only real issue I had was that the novelty of it wore a little thin at towards the end.  It's a minor gripe since it's such a shut your brain off movie that flaws are easy to overlook.

I think you'll probably like it or at least appreciate that it achieves what it's trying to be.  It'd be a great late night watch.  Would fit right in if it aired on USA Network at 1AM in the 90s.

Where did you find it? I looked on my android box and my search for some reason isn't working so I went through like 6 pages and couldn't find it. Also was trying to find "night of something strange" and didnt see that either. Ugh

PM me and I can probably help ya out.

My friend and I watched The Loved Ones tonight and holy shit was that an intense film.   It's pretty torture heavy, but I think the surreal / weirdness of it added a nice balance.  Had a pretty sleazy, gross exploitation vibe at times too.  I'd give it a solid recommendation, but it's not for the squeamish.

One of my favorites!

I can't remember if I posted these here yet or not.  But a while ago I wrote a couple lists for this website called Taste Of Cinema.  Some of you might enjoy them:

Had time to watch Them last night and was surprised by how good it was.  Home invasion film from 2006, managed to maintain a solid level of suspense pretty much from start to finish.  Wouldn't say it does anything new with the genre, it just executes it very well.  I thought the ending was fantastic too.

Sooo good.  A lot of people say that "The Strangers" ripped it off.  I wouldn't say that though.  It feels like an homage more than anything.  I loved The Strangers as well.  Can't wait for the sequel.

Almost watched this on Prime the other day (I opted to get unreasonably stoned and watch the new Star Trek movie because I was more in the mood for something mindless)

Might put it on tonight. I do enjoy a good home invasion flick.

I watched A Dark Song last night and it didn't do much for me.  It was far too drama heavy for the bulk of it and never managed to hook me in, so it mainly felt like a very LONG 100 minute movie.  A better balance of spooky-to-drama would've helped greatly.  To it's credit, I did think the last 15-20 minutes were much stronger and still has me thinking about it a bit this morning, so there is that.  Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

Been wanting to see this.  Been a fan of Ben Oram ever since seeing him in The Sightseers.  It's on my list so I'm hoping to get to it soon

It was well acted by both of them and it's pretty much just the two people in the movie.  I'd be curious to see what you're take on it is.  I got too much boring drama from it when I really just wanted them to get to the fireworks factory.

Watched The Dark Tapes last night (guess I'm on a things with dark in their title kick).  Very low budget four story anthology movie that kind of uses video recording as a general theme for each story.   I wouldn't say was good, but was just interesting enough that I found it mostly enjoyable.  I did like one story an ok amount, it feels like a Paranormal Activities rip off, but becomes something else.  Soft recommendation here.  It made for a pretty light Friday watch and that's exactly what I wanted.

Last night I watched Parasites.  Very low budget piece of trash cinema.  Essentially a gang of hobos are chasing down a guy in a shitty part of LA.  Has some real thing social commentary and it doesn't do a very good job with it.  Also, I'm not sure how I feel about the ending.  Past that, it's a fairy fun watch if you take it at face value and  enjoy it for what it is.

Not horror, but I also watched Colossal last night and was very pleased with it.  Pretty unique giant monster movie.  Think most of the people in here would have some interest in it.
