Boston Peeps

Wife and I priceline Cambridge a lot and get rooms for under $100. Usually right around Kendall Sq or the river. There isnt too many dumpy hotels over there so priceline bids are pretty safe. Can give you the names of places we've stayed if interested.

I've also stayed at the Boston Common hotel which is cheaper (not sure about the summer) but pretty crummy. Dirty rooms and generally needs repair, but cheap and centrally located in Back Bay. It's not too bad, but not great for couples trip maybe.

My girl and I got a package through expedia. We're staying at Hotel 140 which is a 4 star and kinda right in the middle of things. 4 days, 3 nights and flight (out of Buffalo) for the two of us was about $800 after tax.

Boston is an expensive as hell town. The hotels are even $80-$120 a night.

Awesome man. We're thinking of doing a day in Montreal. Then down to Vermont and then Boston.

I'm actually heading over to Boston on Thursday via Megabus from Philly for PAX East (gamer's convention) with my boyfriend. I will definitely be checking out some these places mentioned especially any burger joints. I'm stoked to explore a new city. The only crappy part is the amount of classes I'll be missing! Oh well.

It's small but nice. Great for a night or two, especially if the weather cooperates.

Tons of crazy good beer if you guys are into that. A few food spots worth checking as well and a little bit of shopping. Could give more specific info or other VT "city" recommendations if you are looking for something particular.

Ok, hotel suggetions needed. We'll be in the city mid-august

Things we'll be doing in Boston:

- Museum of fine arts

- Sam Adams tour

- whale watching

- record shopping/shopping in general

- eating/drinking at cool places

I'm not sure of all the cool areas of the city. I'll have a car, but I'm hoping to keep it parked for the majority of the time we're in the city.

Anyone know any nice hotels? The less hookers the better. HA!

hotels I don't know, I've only lived in apartments.

but....

-the MFA is cool, also try and hit up the Museum of Science

-sam adams I heard is cool, but never done it.

-a tour of Fenway Park would be cool too

-a Duck Tour could be fun. I worked for them one year.

-the boston harbor is cool, maybe check out the aquarium

-the commons are cool, pending weather. always fun, bring a frisbee or something

-and for sure go to Faneuil Hall

the cool thing about boston, is that its so small, if its nice out, you could almost walk everywhere. and theres tons of public trans.

Records

-Nuggets located in Kenmore Square same as Fenway /  also a main hub for public trans.

-In Your Ears right outside of Allston, this place is cramped, but cool....its been awhile though.

http://www.iye.com/

-Newbury Comics scattered all over city, always a fun store to go to. Probably wont find anything old, but some used stuff.

theres more, but those were ones i regularly went too on my way home.

Food

-Spikes, good hotdogs and chicken.

-Uburger, awesome, get the phat chick

I'm up on vacation this week and have had a great time so far. We hit the Sam Adams tour yesterday which was pretty great, highly recommend it. I turned 21 a few weeks ago and that was a great way to kick it off. Caught an Off With Their Heads show tonight and finished the night off with Veggie Galaxy. Super cool people there. Great food!

apologies for bumping an old thread and posting outside the sale forum, but i figure that if there is any shred of hope of anyone being interested in these tickets, it may be easier to find someone in a boston specific thread...

6/11 - Sharon Van Etten - @ The Sinclair - TWO GA - $45 value
6/22 - Meshuggah / Between The Buried And Me - @ House Of Blues - TWO GA FLOOR - $66 value

as much as i would love to get my money back, neither show is sold out, and i really just want to get rid of them asap, so i would obviously take below their value.

in fact, if someone was actually interested in both pairs, i would be very inclined to go even lower since it would save me a lot of stress and hassle.

PM if interested, thanks!

Heading to Boston for a couple days in September; thanks for everything so far. I'm staying between the Science Museum and Green LIne Lechmere stop. Any decent dinner options in the vicinity? I'll have a pass, and am cool with taking the T elsewhere, but it would be nice to know what's good in the 'hood. Couple followup questions:

I was thinking about a Fenway tour, but it would have to be on the same day as the Jack White show. They'd still be running tours then, yeah?

Any good things to check out at night (7-11 PMish)? I visited Harvard Square, Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail about 5 or 6 years ago. I dig historical stuff, but I'm thinking there might be some other neat neighborhoods or parks/monuments I can check out after dark.
